http://m.afl.com.au/news/2018-10-11/new-rules-revealed-nine-changes-for-2019

SuperCoach relevant changes:
  • Clubs must have six players inside both 50m arcs, with one player inside the goalsquare.
  • Four midfield players must start inside the centre square with the two wingmen stationed along the wing.
  • At kick-ins, a player will no longer need to kick to himself to play on from the goalsquare.
  • Following a behind, the man on the mark will be brought out to 10m from the top of the goalsquare, rather than the existing five metres
  • When defenders mark or receive a free kick within nine metres of their own goal, the man on the mark will be brought in line with the top of the goalsquare.
  • A ruckman who takes direct possession of the ball from a bounce, throw-up or boundary throw-in will no longer be regarded as having had prior opportunity.

Soooo, who's got the kick in stats?
Hurn, Witherden and Short are ones I know take bulk kick ins, guessing Docherty was the main man for it in '17 too.

At least now no one has to ever pick a proper KPD again haha

Problem is that dinky little kick to yourself is gone. That reads to ne as less stats. One kick per kick in, not two.

Either way Hurn us so gonna play on from the goal square and roost it to the middle

So does the player kicking in who plays on get a stat for it now or does it just count as a regular kick in as if he never played on at all? Seems to me like we could be losing a scoring stat here.

Didn't kick ins not used to count towards scores unless they'd played on? I don't think the kick to themselves netted them any points.

I viewed it as every bastard is gonna run out of the square, causing playing on, meaning that the following kick would count towards their score?
Man on the mark has been sent back 5m too, so there are gonna be some monster launches from kick outs.

I thought the dinky kicks did count just not worth much points?

Either way now you dont need to kick it to yourself I see Hurn types going for the long bomb or the closest player just grabbing the ball and running off, almost like Rugby/touch footy.

Guys like Doc, Simpson and Salem/Lloyd types who are relied on to safely get the ball out from a kick in wont be required anymore.

Plus we will have teams tag rucks now.
Worked beautifully for us against Gawn and Grundy.

I wont be starting with either of them and will be careful picking backs who padded their stats with kick ins.

Key forwards might actually benefit from all this bullshit :drunk:
Either way everyone's guessing at best.

141. Pies highest scorer.

Killed us in the hitouts. Did **** all else.
Mayne was their 3rd highest scorer and tonned up from 15 touches and no goals.

Grannies are always scored oddly.
