Grant Birchall is training but very lightly so far.
Sadly, for a bloke who barely missed games n the early part of his career, the last 2 years has been injury prone.
For me he is a watch only, as I'll love him to get back to his best but have severe doubts.

Sam Docherty - such a sad horrible thing to happen, he would've a lock in my and most sides.

I wonder if the Blues have a replacement - besides the likes of Simpson and Newman.
Who could take his place?

So sad for Docherty, but the new AFL rule of a SSP player is made for such tragic situations.
The Blues should look for the best option to use this rule and hopefully he can be a gun for them.
I suggested Blues should take Cheney .....he was far from bad last year & for 1 year, he's probably best available for a similar role to Docherty

SC silver lining, second year Carlton rookie HBFer Angus Schumacher should get games at some point in 2019. Was 117k this year & didn't debut so 102k next yr?
What do you know about Schumacher ?

Anyone know how the kick ins work score wise with the rule change? Could be a few players getting a bump in score.
Well, the designated kicker who kicks in from a point, is likely to score well in SC .....he now has a larger restricted area and doesn't need to kick to himself B4 playing on .......so they're all going to play on, hence get a SC stat

I reckon he’s a lock.

Yep, even before Docherty went down.
His 2 games this year returning from injury were very good iirc.

Edit: just checked, 77 and 117.

That’s what I thought however hadn’t heard anything official. Will be a good boost for some.

That doesn’t tell us anything about how CD are going to treat them - isn’t that what was queried?
I assume the same as last year, when players kicked to themselves & played on .....except this year, it'll be even more prevalent

For the Crows .....it'll be Smith bringing it in and running it, rather than Laird ......so some players will improve scoring as a result & Laird could be negatively impacted ...as an example

Cheers mate, but that comment was more in reference that I'll take a punt like previous years, a very bad punt at D3/4.

He's put on 6KGs tho...

Really early to call it but it looks like a rough year for defensive rookies, unless you wanna load up on 150k-200k boys which will really drag the salary cap

Laird
Whitfield
Blakely
Williams/B. Smith

looks awfully tempting. If Birchall really is 220k or thereabouts, he may be too good to pass up as well.

They'll play on more which is good for Supercoach. That's how I understand it.
