The more difficult they make it, the less players and website turnover they will receive. Hence why they pump out resources - to try and keep people involved for the entire year. I imagine that is why they bumped up the trades too.

While it may be ideal for experienced coaches to get an edge from Rd1, making it harder would be ridiculous from a business point of view.

I should just stop complaining before we end up with 49 trades like AF.

My gripe is that SC has become too easy for the casual player. With the HUN posting endless articles on which premo's, which discounted bargains and which rookies to pick to the point that anyone can have a gun team from the get go. I know trading is the key, but I'd still like it to be more difficult to put together a good Rd1 team.

Yeah I thought it was easy too when I started with Zerrett Neale Hibberd Billings...

So you're saying, you can't simply choose midfielders for FWD's & DEF's :thumbsu:

Would you like more or less trades ? ......what about injury trades as a separate entity?

30 trades works for me.

Great idea WW, 24 regular trades and 6 "injury trades" that can only be used on a player who has been confirmed to miss multiple games through injury.

Then why did other players who missed some games last year get discounts? Someone else who knows the exact formula, feel free to correct me, but there are 5%, 10% 30% etc discounts depending on how many games you missed through injury the previous season. However these discounts are applied selectively depending on the player.

Discounts for games missed only count if the games are missed because of injury, that's why Witherden and those blokes don't get discounts, they just didn't play till later in the year, he was still playing NEAFL.
And explains why Gaz didn't get it this season either, wasn't injured for every game he missed, he was just arseholing the GC half of the time.

Neale's had a good year. 108 average, granted he had a slowish start (90 ave over the first 4 rounds) but his numbers were good, just wasn't being KOTD early on, not disastrous by any stretch. The skill with a player like him is to hold your nerve and not rage trade as he's pretty consistent and was always going to come good.

Merrett was just terrible luck. I started with Kreuzer at R1 who also got injured early on and had to blow an early trade on him.

Didn't everyone start with Billings? I carried that bum right up to Rd13? when he got dropped and missed out on his "good scores"

Hibbo = 2017 Shaw (who I held all of last year)

Yeh, I already tried (poorly) to explain the same thing about Withers

It was good that CD called GAJ out on that fake injury. Everyone knew it was BS

I kept Neale but he should have been an upgrade target and I should have started the cheaper Cogs or Cripps instead.

**** I Ijust started cogs and Cripps instead of Neale and Zerrett id prob in the top 3k by now. Instead of having to start from ranked 75k. Had a charmed run since then but just way too far to come back from

Btw, I do agree with you that it's become too easy thanks to all the spoon feeding, but Huttabito is right. It's all about making it accessible and getting more clicks unfortunately.
Trading will forever be the key.

3 trades a week next year or gtfo.

What was the reasoning behind starting with Neale & Zerrett who were fully priced ahead of Cripps & Cogs?

I'm not expecting anything drastic. Although if the proposed rule changes come into place we might see changes to the SC scoring system.

On the issue of the scoring system, i'd like to see points given to key defenders who keep their direct opponent goal less for a qtr.

Take Hurley on Friday night for example... he was one of the most influential on the ground keeping Buddy scoreless for most of the night but only scored 77 points. If he was given 6 points for every qtr Buddy didn't kick a goal he would be around 95 which would be more indicative of his influence on the end result.

Cogs was hardly proven and I had been burned by injury prone under priced players for 2 years running in beams and libba.
Cripps, I knew would be good (not this good) but I was choosing between 2 or 3 players in the end but both Neale and Zerrett averaged 110 or so 2 years running so I thought I couldnt go wrong. I actually had Oliver over Neale but made the switch last minute when they said he hurt his knee at training on the eve of rnd 1. I was fuming about that too for the first 4-5 weeks.

I'll still run out by round 17!

Lol. I still want the cap at 30 but they should let us make more than 2 a week. I ****ing fume when im handicapped by only being able to make 3 trades sometimes. There is no real reason for that rule but pointless going on about it coz they wont change it as they are and always will be campaigners.

I can see a lot of casual players who don't get off to a flier burning 6 "correctional trades" after 2 rounds chasing points even though their teams are perfectly fine & losing interest even earlier than usual.
