If I was to take a risk on a cheap R2 he'd be the one. Would have to have a really solid pre-season though.
Almost every season I look at this then start the two best rucks

I started with him @600k+ this year knowing the risk that always comes with him. At 430k though he should at least make a bit of coin (50k+) even if he ends up being a stepping stone to Grundy.
At least this year he was a straight swap when he went down early. If picking him up at that price next year you better have a back up plan if he goes down early (again).

But I did that with Kreuz & Gawn at the start of the year. I rated them the 2 best rucks at the time.
Not with his (Krooze) injury history imo

Gawn and Martin for me - so not too bad there

Which other ruck do you think can or is capable of averaging 125+ next year?

NicNat - injured
Goldy - at 31 next yr his 125+ glory days are probably behind him (could possibly go 110-115 again)
Stef - 110 is his ceiling. 32 yrs old next year
Ryder - 110 ceiling. Excellent tap ruck but doesn't get enough around the ground possies to go 120+
Witts - see Ryder
TBC & McEvoy - 100 ish is about their ceiling.
Nank & Sinc have some more room for improvement - could possibly go 105+
Jacobs - has had one 115 season, but that was 5 years ago in his prime. Well past his best.
Kreuzer - 110 absolute ceiling if all goes perfectly well injury wise, but a veteran now with a banged up body.
Sandi - prob retired - too old
Darcy - maybe in 2-3 years
Stanley & Lycett - maybe 105 max
Hickey & Longer - no & no
Simpson - decent tap ruck, not much around the ground 100 tops
Lobb - if fit and sole ruck - could go 100+
Preuss - if 1st (sole) ruck somewhere - 90 maybe - unproven
Roughed & Boyd - no & no - English could possibly push up to 80-90 with a solid pre-season

Gawn & Grundy both just coming into their prime now. Even if they don't back up with 125+ averages, they will still be the clear top 2 injury permitting.

Stanley has the potential to go 110-120 for a season. Has the ceiling but has never been consistent. If he retains ruck/fwd would be tempting.
Tom Nicholls is another one. Should be cheap as chips but needs to both heal and show something. averaged 92 in his second season over 8 games.

I frankly dont care what they cost. Gawndy locked it.

Everyone is going to take them so at least they will go down together but not having them could just be way too costly.

Yes I know history rarely repeats for the most expensive players but I feel its too risky to pass up on them.

First time starting with 3 700k players lol.

Whitfield has been sitting in my mids as a sneaky POD all year, and had been building well in the 2nd half of the year. He surely becomes DEF next year and is a must have.

If he is in defence then he is :padlock: in my squad :thumbsu:

110-120 is a huge stretch for Stanley, even if he became more consistent. Being a bit under sized and being dominated against in hitouts most weeks doesn't help his uber-premo aspirations.

Ah, 2013 was a great year for rucks. Nicholls & Blicavs were my R3 & R4 that year but that was a long time ago now. Teams don't play 2 specialist rucks any more, so even if Nicholls gets healthy he would need to oust Witts out of the 22 which won't happen because Witts' best is better. Who knows though, maybe Nicholls can reinvent himself as a Forward/pinch hitting ruck after Lynch leaves.

Hugh McCluggage (77 av) could well be a smokey 3rd year break out contender. Has a 140 & 130 this year. Also has a 28 & 36 so clearly needs to improve his consistency. However, the new rules (if they come into effect) could really suit his outside game though. Would need to retain his M/F DPP to be a serious consideration.

I have no plans right now to ever play this damned, cursed game again.

That said, locked Doch in and everything else is speculative.

Docherty, Williams, Whifield, Roberton, rookie, rookie (rookie, rookie)

Titch, Cripps, Zorko, Merrett, Liberatore rookie, rookie (rookie, rookie, rookie)

Grundy, Gawn (rookie)

Dusty, Dangerfield, Lynch, Greene, rookie, rookie (rookie, rookie)

Think this is will be an affordable starting team ?

Look at the fixture for SC finals and pick players based on the good teams playing basket cases.

Nah just kidding but jesus did GWS and Melb players go nuts today

Knowing my luck, if i did that i would have had TMac and Greene
