This must have slid by me, but after Dunkley was dropped (playing as a forward), he went into the mids and averaged 115 and 131 (wtf?) in his last 5 games. In my team at the moment.

SSsshhhh.

As good as he was, he probably gets less midfield time with new recruits and Liberatore back. One to keep an eye on for sure, was locked into my side before I saw how well Libba’s going in training.

Being reported on our board by people with links to gc coaching staff that the three top draftees have all exceeded expectations and are set to play round one barring injury.

I never like this .....at most top 8 clubs, these draftee's would get a year of development in local leagues to build their body ....whilst i admit Rankine is ready to go, Lukossius and Ben King are no-where near ready physically & will be thrown to the wolves if played ......they couldn't stand-up in a strong breeze

Why do struggling clubs F....k players careers up .........the history of great young draftees being spat out of the system, becuase they're played too early & not developed correctly .....sorry, it's a hobby horse of mine

Wonder if Darcy Parish can realise his apparent potential and become a legit POD as a FWD/MID?
Hadn't thought about him.
Difficult to say, could go well as the Bombers might make a move, but there are also quite a few competing for the points and the fwd line looks like being pretty strong this year, he might end up a bit too far off the topliners.
Worth watching over the preseason.

Libba, Scrimshaw (though I don't want to see him rewarded for not taking it seriously at GCS, shits me tbh) interesting in particular, others you'd have to see, I guess.

For anyone who doesn’t know, this years price multiplier is 5428.5

So to work out prices just multiply last years average by that number. There is a bit of variance from that but that’s the closest you’ll get.

Also have to factor in discounts. Can someone confirm, I think it’s 10% for less than 10 games played and 20% for no games played.

Yep, he absolutely smoked the tail end of the season playing in the guts. He also pinched all of McLean's minutes which killed McLean's output.
With Libba back I dont think he'll be exclusively playing midfield like he was late last year.

Didn't hurt Stephenson, Higgins, Naughton or Edwards this year. All straight out of the TAC and all were valuable contributors to their teams best 22. Their age doesn't matter, if they are good enough to play, they'll play. Simple.

Not everyone needs to do a 20 year long apprenticeship in the magoos like Doodee did :D

3 of those 4 were midfielder types .....KPP are different "generally" ....clubs that throw these draftees to the pack, so as to give supporters hope and sell memberships ...rather than take the long game

I'm sure GC are thinking, if these draftees play local NEAFL ....the homesick factor becomes greater than if they're playing AFL .....again the motivation behind these decisions is wrong !

Higgins was the only midfielder of that bunch, and Naughton ended up coming 4th in the Dogs BnF.
I very much doubt they'll be gifting them games to mitigate the "go home" factor. They'll be getting games because they are 3 of the top ten kids in the last draft and they've all arrived at a club that's just had a massive turnover in players.
But that doesn't mean they'll score well, or even be overly relavant with the higher starting price.

I 100% agree
Rankine has to start but I would be 50/50 on Lukosius and don't think King would be best 22 just yet.

As a defender King is not as good as Rory Thompson and you'd have Collins / Hombsch / Burgess playing ahead of him early.
As a forward Peter Wright would be the big forward with Sam Day / Corbett / Lukosius the others in the mix.

I was surprised to hear it to be honest and we will see what plays out.
Particularly with our early draw - we have quite a few winnable games early and I'd like to try take those chances when available! Ben King would not be the guy giving us the best chance of us winning.

I can see why they want to get games into him along the way - languishing in the NEAFL doesn't
a. make a guy want to play here
b. do a huge amount for development given the level of competition.

But surely he would be a better option in the back half of the year, especially once we've played most of our winnable games.

Scrimshaw wasn't at the level required to get a game on the Gold Coast when we had 23 fit players to chose from.
Not sure that he is likely to get much run at Hawthorn.
His parents moved up here so not as if he was away from family.
Maybe being closer to high school friends will make him try harder?

Dylan Roberton
Harris Andrews
Hugh McCluggage
Alex Witherden
Tim English
Sean Darcy
Tim Taranto

Pearce Hanley
Brad Crouch
Lachie Weller
Toby Greene
Tom Lynch
Alex Rance
Heath Shaw
Connor Blakely
Matt Crouch
Zach Merrett
Marcus Bontempelli

Dayne Beams
Taylor Adams

List of guys that I think are either underpriced based on history, or primed for a breakout. Track Steeles finish to 2018. Papley has Menzel arriving, and Hannebery departing. Is Heath Shaw RELEVANT again with the new kick in rules? Could we see eternal cheap pill off the HBF coupled with 70m punts out of the goal square?

Where is my ****ing team picker.:'(

Would consider most in your list

Cant see Eric Hipwood ever being relevant to be honest.
Will have weeks where he goes 100+ but will have many weeks with low scores - Doesn't tackle, low GA and contested mark numbers.
scored <60 15/23 games last season

Defence stocks look pretty good this year for premos - be interesting what the rookies are like. Hanley if priced ~250k could be worth a crack if you've got big balls and looking to win the whole comp. Think he could average 84 - 89ish if he can get a solid run at it.. massive if though.

If Hanley can get a run at it he's going to be a great pick. We've all seen what he can do if he's fit. The points are there for the taking, like you said - massive if!

I can see what you mean regarding Hipwood, I threw him on the list a while ago purely because I see Brisbane getting better and giving their forwards a better chance. I think he's seen enough footy to improve, but how much, who knows?
