im genuinely stumped with who to pick with R2 this season... I think that R2 position is going to be hit and miss. Who you guys thinking?
Think I'll go Kruezer
With Westhoff Fwd as insurance.
Probs Xerri with his DPP at R3 both for the flexibility plus there's no real backup for Goldy.
I f Kruezer does ok then the DPP flexibility gives me 2 rucks in each of the bye rounds

Here's a new one. Is Devon Smith way overs? Has to go at 108 next year and Shiel will take a lot of his midfield time I would have thought.

On the contrary...is Laird way overs? 8 point increase on 2017 which also coincides with Brodie Smith being injured.

In regards to Devon the contrary could be that he avg 120 over the last 8 weeks so could be seen to be unders

I know ive been putting in a bit of research into how long these runs run for towards the back end of previous seasons and how they correlate with next year. Obviously the longer they go the more likely its to transpire the following year. 8 weeks is quite some time

Im just picking the safe option in Dangerfield over him with my structure but i wouldnt be shocked if the 2019 winner starts with both

I don't see any reason not to start with both. They're so clearly top 6 forwards. I've got Grundy in the ruck, Danger and Devon forward and Laird, Lloyd and Whitfield in defence because they'll all be top 6 in their positions and are safe picks. Don't have Titch in midfield though.... But have a couple others I'm confident will be top 8 mids.

By strengthening other areas id say your losing in the mids which seems the case. or have Z.Clarke as R2 which id be interested to see how that goes.

To do well you need to spend good coin in the midfield as the rookies are just so far off the top 8 mids.

The mid rookies look about the same strength as last year and id say most had Tim kelly at M7 and Brayshaw M8 with Holman and Barry on the bench.

For me thats Sam Walsh M7, Atley or Hately at M8, 170k on bench.

If last year is anything to go by I'd almost prefer 170k'ers on my field. I got burnt with a lot of 'premium' rookies last year

Nah Witts R2. Mid rookies right now are Walsh, Setterfield, Stocker + 170k guys. Also have Yeo, Merrett, Neale, B. Crouch. I don't think that's too weak as long as all other lines are strong.

Anybody big on Seb Ross next year?

Yeh hes a possible unique starter for me. He goes large in the opening 2 rounds if anyone wants to jump on that. Its why im thinking of starting him just purely for the early season and then maybe upgrade to a captain once theyve dropped a bit.

He's got a similar statistical game to Macrae. They can do it all. Ross 2018 was Macraes 2017

Who can find the
Macrae 2018
Hurn 2018
Seedsman 2018
Westhoff 2018

There are probably a few others but these guys were barely spoken of last year. They were ultra uniques id say all were less than 5% owned and had excellent seasons from the get go.

For me Angus Brayshaw was the other big bolter. Given his early season low scoring lowering his average, definitely one I'm considering (along with Cogs and Macrae). I reckon McCluggage, Parfitt and Conca are others that will be real unique but could have a breakout year.

For Geelong just as an FYI to everyone, keep an eye out for the below players next year:

Charlie Constable
Brandan Parfitt
Luke Dahlhaus
Jordan Clark
Darcy Fort
Quinton Narkle
Nathan Kreuger
Stefan Okunbur

Fair chance most of those get a run next year

I would add Tom Atkins to this list aswell. Geelong VFL captain/BnF winner from yesteryear. I think he is a decent chance for Rd 1 - the coaches have been raving about him.

Conca is coming into his 8th year, he ain't having a breakout

Yeh didnt include Brayshaw because he was unique due to not being named round 1

Not every team has a tagger though and i think Whitfield will receive a lot of attention as well.
Teams often seem to copy the premiers game plan. Eg, Hutchings tagging. Can see it happening a lot more next season. Agree with you on Whitfield, but if he plays HBF like he did last season it'll be a defensive forward doing a negating job on him which will still leave a midfielder to do one on Kelly. All im saying is 120 is a bloody stretch. 110 max

It can happen and even later

Ie: Westhoff, Hurn ect

Breakout maybe not the right word but in fantasy terms it is
The bloke can't string enough games together to have a breakout season. Nor has he ever proven he can score enough. Not relevant at all in my opinion. Actually hoping others pick him

I don't want to be an a**hole because I don't know anymore than the next guy but, that's one of the weakest midfields I've seen so far. If B Crouch fails to fire then youre left with two premiums and a big risk in Neale.

That being said I don't know you're other lines so I could be blowing smoke right now mate.

I'd probably pick Dunkley if the doggies didn't have infinite mids, including just recently drafting a touted gun.

Bont, MacRae, McLean, Smith, Williams, Libba, West, Hayes, Daniels, Hunter, Webb
