With the 1st - 4th year players starting their pre-season on Monday (?), appropriate time to get this thread started.

With the recent gun acquisitions, there will be fierce competition for spots. I'll try and go along to a few training session for photos and summaries.

A nice article to kick things off: Eric Hipwood paving the way for Lions

At 21 years old, the smooth-moving 203cm giant is the main man in attack, his 160 inside-50 targets dwarfing the next-most-targeted forward at the club, Daniel McStay, who had 96.

No player at Hipwood's age in the AFL carries such a burden, an even tougher assignment once you consider Brisbane ranked bottom five for inside 50s in each of his three seasons to date.

The Lions' answer to Lance Franklin takes most of his marks on the lead at this stage, but had an encouraging eight-game stretch in the second half of 2018 where he hauled in 11 contested marks.

Hipwood's continued natural improvement next year will go a long way to greater Brisbane success, and keeping him on the field is crucial, given the thin key forward depth behind him.

As the preseason kicks off, are all players fit and good to go? How are payne, cameron, mccarthy? Does anyone have any info on the current state of injuries or rehab to players? Adams said he was fit and ready to go. Matho certainly reaped the rewards of doing extra work last lear (16 games), has anyone put extra effort in over the break? Who will be the first senior player back early to train? Im backing mitch robbo.

Looks like we are in pretty good shape to go this pre-season.

Anny of the experienced or guys we traded in (Neale, Adams, McCarthy, Lyons) coming in with the young guys?
Don't think Neale and Lyons are the dedicated types we thought they were. Can't get their priorities right. Chose a honeymoon over getting ready for football. De-list them as free agents and let another team deal with their preparation tardiness.

Do we know if the boys are training at Yeronga or Coorparoo tomorrow and what time it starts? I might pop down for a look.

Did they do the first training session at Qsac last year? Or was that a bit later on?
Yer I think you're right, IIRC they usually do a time trial to see what sort of shape they come back in. If that's the case it'd definitely be a closed session you would think.

Today's a beautiful day but I do have to feel for James Madden going from Ireland to training in this weather. Take it easy young fella, it's only going to get hotter and more humid.

There is a very good team in that group of 23 players. Commitment and patience, is what id be preaching to this group from day 1. Stick together boys and success will be shared by everyone over many years to come.

Harro is certainly going to be the leader for the next couple of weeks till everyone else returns - the only fourth year and the vice captain and just a guy born to lead.

Didn’t see Marcus Adams at training? Maybe starting later? Or was he in the shed on a bike or something hiding from the cameras. :p

Corey Lyons looking a lot trimmer. Definitely looked like he was carrying extra weight last year which really wouldn't've helped him.

Both he and Witho had a long and very fun loving trip last off season.
They enjoyed their time off a little too much!
