That team could genuinely be top 100 in the early rounds. But would fade away when trading season begins.

You'd be aggressively trading fairly early on with that structure. I tried a very similar set up a few years ago finished top 1k-2k. Tricky part is jumping off at the right time.

Couple new changes / additions

Dropped Greene and for both Wingard and McLean. McLean may become Dunkley
D2 will be either Andrews or Witherden

Also still considering running Zorko and Neale, if i do I'll drop Fyfe and also B.Crouch for Martin/Kelly.

V2. With Titch going down opens up a lot of new possibilities. At this stage dropped Titch > MCrouch, who I think will go back to his feasting ways, with his brother back in the team, Sloane looking prime and an easier draw for Adelaide. Have also gone Gawn > Kruez, who I will use as a stepping stone back to Gawn once Kruez inevitably breaks down.
This spare cash has allowed me to go Collins (rookie) > Roberton, who should get a lot of it in saints backline this year and rookie > Sexy Robbie, who is just too sexy not to have (may still be flipped to Smith or Wingard pending PS).

Love it. Good depth in every line. My only (minor) criticism is that you may not find 4 cheap rookies in defence so you might want to have a backup plan to get a more expensive rookie by making a small downgrade somewhere else. For instance, Collins/Williamson seem good options at this very early stage of the preseason. However, if 4 cheap backline rookies emerge in JLT and are selected for round 1, by all means go for it! I really wish i could afford Roberton at D4 in my own team but it comes down to Libba/Roberton vs Brouch/Williamson and at the moment im favouring Brouch & Willo just. I like your midfield depth, 3 genuine guns and then Dusty & Crouch who should both improve on last years numbers. I do like the Kreuzer selection too but he's not for me personally. I might pick him in DT/Fantasy with Westhoff as coverage up forward but i don't like that combination for SC. Danger/Heeney/Gray up front are obviously good options.

I know Greene hasn't had a great preseason with his injury but if he's fit for round 1 it will be hard to go past him given his upside. I think its great to have him at F4 at this stage of the preseason as it allows flexibility. If he's not fit, you can sideways or downgrade easily and maybe even upgrade if you can downgrade elsewhere. For those plan teams that have him at F3, there is not as much flexibility as in all likelihood you can't downgrade and start 4 rookie forwards.

Overall, i think you have a great balance of genuine guns who should finish top 5 in their respective positions (Laird/Whitfield/Cripps/Fyfe/Oliver/Grundy/Danger/Heeney/Gray) and then low-level premiums/upper echelon mid-pricers who will likely improve their averages and should become keepers (Williams/Dusty/Crouch/Kreuzer) and finally lower end mid-pricers who offer value and look to be great stepping stones to premiums (Roberton/Greene). If you get really lucky they may even become bottom end keepers and/or decent bench coverage.

So yeah, very impressive. Apart from the backline it is quite different to my team as well which is definitely refreshing.

Similar to Metapod's team in terms of structure. I like your team too. Longer is a pretty big risk, particularly because it'll be hard to move him on if he fails. I like the Smith and Kelly picks but much prefer Fyfe to Treloar, although i do understand avoiding Fyfe if you think he won't play a full season.

Personally my concern with not picking Fyfe is that if he starts the season on fire then most teams without him will want to get him in and then you've not only got the same risk of injury as you tried to avoid to start with but you've also missed his great run of scores to start the season. It also creates a dilemna because if you keep avoiding him due to durability question marks and he keeps pumping out huge scores you will find yourself further and further behind the pack. My conclusion is that it is safer to start with Fyfe and then trade him if he gets injured rather than going for a slightly inferior substitute who may be more durable.

All that said, im assuming Fyfe will increase his average from last season and score better than all the substitute options around his price. I obviously rate him very highly and thus will accept the injury risk. If you can find a quality substitute (Kelly/Oliver/Neale type) that scores better then kudos to you.

We have pretty much identical sides with the exception of Kreuz/Crouch v Gawn/Libba. May well take your approach should Preuss play round 1

Longer might get dropped, theres a poll on the Saints board with Longer vs Pierce.

Too much risk
Longer v Gawn .....you could be looking at a 100 point deficit on one game, one player alone .......huge gamble !

Great team. Similar to what I'm looking at atm. Kreuz is only real concern. What's your plan B/C if he goes down early?
The best I can come up with is having Westhoff as backup (which is not ideal given the many fwd options), trading to Mumford(also injury prone) or worst case downgrading a premo elsewhere to fund an upgrade.
If he can at least make 100k before he goes down it would be a win, wonder what he would have to average and for how many games for that to happen?

Def a gamble, but price differential (starting MN) is 80 points. And if you can spend elsewhere to greater effect, you might be alright.
Captaincy consideration a potential problem, though.

My problem with a $260K R2 is ....if he gets injured, how do you cover him, without keeping that money your'e saving on him, in the bank ? .....or you have to waste 2 trades & downgrade a player you probably want to keep

Absolutely valid point, and/or an extra trade to bridge gap to topliner when you look to move the cheapie on. (If a Clarke or someone gets early games, they might give cover, but then no r3 floating donut.)
But I have unshakeable faith in whichever 250-300k shittruck gets a guernsey come rd 1 to average 90-odd and not shit the bed or break down with injury until I give them the green light lol.
