Sam Walsh with 18 disposals to half time. Pretty incredible.

Finished with 32 disposals @81% efficiency, 14 contested possessions, 12 marks, 6 clearances, 4 tackles, 5 inside 50s and 2 goal assists.

Vanilla ...

Bookies have him at $1.40. Next best $7.00. Big footy posters seem to think that every other player is better. Wonder which of these sample groups is biased?

Vic bias/media is a myth when it comes to the Rising Star award.

Despite being outnumbered by Victorian sides, non-Vic sides lead the Rising Star tally 14 to 12. I remember some clown who whinged last season that Stephenson only won from Witherden because he played for Collingwoood, however there was no response when I pointed out that Brisbane had 4 rising stars to Collingwood’s 0 before Stepho won his.

It’s an extraordinarily boring argument with zero substance.

Lewie Taylor beat Bont ffs. Such a juvenile argument.

Plenty of anti-Walsh statements in here.
Anyone see the way he played against Brisbane?
Yeah I don’t understand it. This is as good a 1st year as I have seen. The posters saying vanilla is just posting rubbish. If that is vanilla I hope we recruit 40 vanilla players. Kid is a jet.

People aren't impressed by consistency for some reason beyond my comprehension. They won't wince at Walsh getting 28 disposals next week because that's the standard he's already set for himself. But if a more inconsistent player like Jordan Clark were to come out and have 20 disposals and kick a goal next week, they'd be frothing at the mouth over this seriously underrated contender.

Put simply, anybody who doesn't have Walsh leading by the 2007 grand final is a serious nuffie.

Interesting to see how people see different things in players.

I’ve seen every one of Walsh’s games. Started off having a real impact, hit a flat spot, then blitzed on Saturday. Reads the play well and knows how to get his own ball; never stops running. An absolute gun.

Rozee is a jet. Great speed and skills. Knows how to kick a goal.

Love Stack. Pure footballer who is tough and does most things well. High marking, great foot skills.

Blakey has it all. Looks the real thing.

Haven’t seen much of Smith.

Walsh is deserved favourite but it’s a hot field.

I can only assume the negative Walsh comments are because people prefer an underdog?

Walsh the clear favorite and very deserving.

Stack IMO the next best and super consistent.
Tall poppy syndrome is a big issue in Australia. Walsh is obviously the standout but people automatically default to hating on guys like that.

Walsh is clearly the man to beat, but I could see any of Rozee, Stack or Smith beating him depending on how the rest of the season goes. Right now though, Walsh is deservedly the short priced favourite

Rozee & Gryan just behind Walsh

It's not as cut and Dried as everyone thinks.

Gryan actually averaging more possessions than Rozee with same amount of goals
