If you were a foregone conclusion why bother with a preview thread?? Just wait and skip to the Tiger demolish spooners by X …….

Pretty cocksure of yourselves ….
Yeah we can lose this game, but we won 19 games in total last year and 18 games the year before. If I cannot be confident as a current Richmond supporter against the 18th-placed side that won only 2 games last season, 6 games the season before and none against Richmond, then when can I be confident?

I think Richmond will win, but Richmond does not have a track record of smashing Carlton, so I am expecting a similar outcome to the last few years.

Interesting to see how Carlton stack up against the fittest side in the competition.
Apparently Carlspoon have had the toughest pre season of all the clubs. Don't think fitness will be an issue for them.

what I'm most interested to see is how our centre bounce structures go in the real thing now with the new 6-6-6 rule.

We will need all the contested ball winners in there that we can get, which makes me think that young Jack Ross might be a smokey for a debut this week.
cripps the slow as treacle tractor is gonna drive all over us

Sorry to intrude, but I thought I’d have a read of this thread to get the opposition perspective...
My hatred for Richmond is deep, and no secret. That’s due to a couple of my life long Richmond mates who have made my life a living hell over the last 35 odd years...

One of them covers my car in yellow streamers every time you beat us. Every time! Not a few streamers! Roughly half a ton of streamers!

The other greets me like this every time I see him. He puts his palm in the middle of my chest, pushes off gently, and whispers “Dustyyyyyyy”...

Against my will, I’ve been a Richmond member for the last five years, as these two flogs chip in to buy me one every year.

Seriously, how can I not hate you?!

Anyway, it appears not one of you thinks we have a chance on Thursday night. You probably have every right to feel that way. But it’s the unknowns that should at least concern you...

You know Cripps, and Curnow. We know Rance, and Jack. Matin and Cotchin. But what of the unknowns?
How will big Lynch fit in? Will he play? How much have the Carlton youngsters improved? Will the new rules have an impact? What does the 6 6 6 rule do for the respective midfields? Will Jack have his kicking boots on? What will the umps do? etc etc...

You can’t tell me that when that siren goes to start the game. and that first bounce is delivered, that not one of you won’t be a tad nervous. That none of you won’t think, “shit, I hope our boys aren’t as cocky as us”...

We may not get the four points, but to dismiss us completely would be foolhardy. I look forward to a great game, no injuries to either side, and Carlton by 16 points.

“Idiot” is a bit harsh, Shazza...

Nevertheless, I admire your confidence. Maybe we pick this up Friday morning?

This interests me also. Martin vs Cripps. Ross vs Walsh. Cotchin vs... I’m not sure. But it makes for interesting viewing.
