Changes I want: Out Butler Caddy, In Kmac Pickett
Predicted changes: No Changes

Carlton changes: From a bit of reading Kreuzer and Cunningham are potential ins, their board doesn't seem to want anyone out really

In what some are saying is the biggest H&A game this century, we take on the in-form team of the competition Carlton PRIMETIME this Sunday! Will Carlton claim a moral victory? Will we lose in fantastic style? Will they make us start worrying about Round 1 games? Who knows! But here's what a few of the experts are saying about the all important blockbuster!

A clash of the titans, the two biggest clubs in the world will go head to head for the second time this season. Last time we met in Round 1, Carlton β€œplayed their grand final” in another close hard fought round 1 clash. Rance went down early which signalled the end of our season, but we were to just pull through by 33 points. The MCG, once a fortress of guaranteed victory for us, will hold no fear for Carlton as we have stooped to a mere 8 wins out of the last 11 at the ground.

If recent form is anything to go by, this will be a tough one. Soft wins over an injury depleted Collingwood and bottom of the ladder Melbourne (saved by the rain) haven't given us much to gloat about. Meanwhile Carlton have taken reigning premiers and 2nd on the ladder West Coast down to the wire, and thrashed a top 8 side in the Crows.

Caretaker coach David Teague has the boys behind him and is finally getting the best out of Carlton's 30 top 10 draft picks! Premiership coach Dimmer has got us through some tough times this year but is wildly regarded as a lacklustre gameday coach (source: BigFooty) so if Carlton get on top in the centre and the scoreboard it may be hard to haul back the margin. And looking at the forecast, we can't rely on a nice soaking to gift us another win:

All Important Midfield Battle

Carlton
The Crippler and Rising Star Sam Walsh

Richmond
Dusty, Edwards, Bolton, Graham, Prestia, Soldo, potential cameos by Lambo/Bellis/Caddy

If they get on top here it will be a tough day, and with Cotchin out and the 2-man midfield Cripps and Walsh playing like superstars we could be in for a tough day. Soldo may need to stay over Nank for a chance to win the taps, especially if the Kreuz Missile comes back in, but if Cripps is on he will read the taps either way. Prestia will need to continue his great form carrying us in the centre bounces, but Cripps does eat meatballs for breakfast

Carlton win

Their forwards vs our backs

Newman and Gibbons

Coming off good weeks against premiership favourites, these boys will be fired up to back it up with a handful of goals each. If delivery from the midfield is good they could kick a bag

Solution: send Grimes to them

McKay

Just the kind of player to take 10 contested marks and kick 3 or 4 against us. Astbury will have to mind him at times with his height and we'll have to stop him taking too many marks early and building the condidence.

Solution: send Grimes to him

Casboult

In and out of form lately but we don't need him having a good week. Has the size to push our defenders around and take a few marks inside 50 if he wants to.

Solution: send Grimes to him

Silvagni

Not sure we need to worry about him too much, but if all the players think the same that's when he'll get off the leash and kick a couple. Has some pace if he can get the ball off the ground so just need Vlaustin, Astbury and what not to take some marks or fist it away. If he starts getting off the hook then...

Solution: send Grimes to him

Close battle 50/50

Our forwards vs their backs

Probably our best chance to get on top here. Tim Lunch and the 4 midgets plus newly discovered small forward Jack Riewoldt will look to dominate an inconsistent Carlton defence. Tim has come into an amazing bit of form lately after getting confident enough to start training more than once a week. Has looked one of the more dominant forwards in the comp and will spend all day doing what he pleases and sharing the spoils with the midgets. However Carlton have held some teams to pretty low scores recently so if they show up in a good frame of mind we could have a tough job.

Battle to us 60/40

So overall it looks to be very close with the potential of Carlton's big mids/The Crippler single-handedly to boss us around and be too reliant on Prestia carrying our clearances. Carlton always save a little extra for when they play us and are in much better form than last time we played! Much more of a danger game than last week

My prediction:
Tigs by 98

Lastly, with a newly fitted bionic leg, Rancey claims he will be able to play limited VFL minutes this week if the doc gives him the okay. Do we bother playing him in VFL? Do you play your god tier defender in the VFL? If he's been given the tick off to play should be rush him in to get ready for finals?
