This seems more active than the forwards thread.

What's everyone's thoughts on Lycett now that Dixon is basically ****** for the foreseeable future.

Obviously plan to use him as ruck coverage but in the forward line.
Terrible pick, cant see the improvement in him for that price. Cant pick up balls below his knees can't kick goals...spud.

OK so is English gonna stay the number one ruck?

Dogs fans?
Bevo hates Ruckmen. Doesn't rate them.
If English can get himself in the right positions around the ground when we don't have the ball he's a chance to keep the number one spot.
But I thing Trengove will come back in soon

Cheers for the heads up. Gonna play it safe and start with Goldy

Everyone that said there is no way but Gawndy all pre-season is a genius.
Instead of having 2(supposedly) awesome rucks costing 1.4 million making the rest of the team look s**t, I should have started 2 s**t rucks and had the rest of my team look awesome.
For example Goldy+English+T.Kelly+Laird+70k
Instead of Gawn+Grundy+Greene+Moore

The Goldstein v Witts choice is the last one for me to come to terms with.

Goldy in but got some thinking to do tonight...mainly over Witts having a great early run match up wise.

Thinking Goldy has to rely slightly less on hitouts (kicks more goals and can spread better I reckon) which might help if there's less stoppages.

Norfs midfield > Suns midfield
Witts is an awesome tap ruck but HOTAs are limited by players around him
Last year he got 60 hit outs for 80 points for example

What's everyone's take on the rucks so far.

It looks like 6-6-6 And the kick out rule has reduced some congestion, thus less stoppages reducing the hit out numbers across a majority of the main rucks (2 exceptions)

Granted it's only an extremely small sample size.

Gawn - 2018 Avg 44 | Round One 21
Grundy - 2018 Avg 39 | Round One 34
McEvoy - 2018 Avg 30 | Round One 23
Jacobs - 2018 Avg 36 | Round One 31
Stanley - 2018 Avg 28 | Round One 23

Sinclair and Nankervis the only 2 to better their 2018 Avg.

Will watch Witts and Goldstein with interest.

Went lycett instead of westhoff bc of $ and talk of westhoff being overpriced.

Sooo making the trade but should i do it this week or is there any chance lycett will improve?

Westhoff just kicked an equal career high goals against a side missing their top 2 key defender choices. I`d wait and see what his role is like when he isn't kicking a bag as Lycett and Ryder take the ruck. If he goes up field still when he`s not getting good delivery and beating the defender and doesn't just play deep forward I`d think he`s a decent pick.

And Nank and Sinclair were up against pretty ordinary rucks.

I think you could be onto something.

Sinc and Nank are also the 2 rucks who's games don't heavily rely on hitouts.

This is why we need a proper 22 a side 3 game pre-season cup. The ruck situation would have been clearer before Rd1.
Maybe a combination of something like Nank and Stef Martin might be the go?

Gawn you lovable rogue, pull your finger our for round 2.

All eyes on Gold now. Feeling less nervous about skipping Grundy, think he'll come good but will ave below breakeven for a few weeks now.
