So.... Phil Harper is resuming Burton’s role? Is that what they said?
Hope not or the club have really not learnt anything.

How has promoting within worked previously... including Harper's 1st crack in the role. We need a refresh which means bringing in quality people from outside.

Chapman really needs to go as this is just going to remind us of Tippett-gate all over & 2 of the key players back to their set position.... which is really taking the piss.

I doubt he’ll be officially appointed to an interim role. He’ll just help out if needed.

Where's Neddy gonna park his new boat there?... ;)
Was about to say his big new boat won’t go there.
I’m assuming it’s a sponsorship deal.
It’s the same boat builder as dangers boat was before he left.

Just a note, throughout our search for a new coach, channel 7 would have a different “lock” for the job every night of the week.

They’re currently batting at Andrew Jarman/Steven Rowe levels of accuracy.

Ye old scatter gun approach, name everyone as a “lock” who you half get win of might be applying/getting interviewed, you can then look back, cherry pick and say “see we got it right...” andrely on no one actually remembering how much you got wrong.

Persoanlly I think too much is getting made of this “cultural adviser” role. I expect it was a minor “recommendation” from a list of many that we thought would play well with the media and distract a little from the rest of the shit that was going on. Not saying it’s a bad thing, but I think it conveniently plays well from a PR perspective, yet is likely a minimal salary, likely part time, role, with the person having no power to do anything of serious note. It’s akin to us bringing in a new boot studder or runner, maybe worth a footnote or a small puff piece in Thursday’s advertiser, but a key appointment it is not.

Quite frankly I think it flies a little against the “less voices” mantra though asI’m pretty sure one of the key aspects Nicks was able to bring was his ability to set/develop culture and relationships.

That "culture" position is working across administration too, something Nicks would neither have the time or the interest in working with.

Spoke to my mate who teaches at Trinity. He reckons Rupert is a top notch bloke and very easy to get along with. Also said he runs the sporting compenent of the college which is top notch.

Hey, it might mean we are another step closer to getting Hately back lol. His dad would have had a fair bit to do with Rupert.

What he said. I too have a 'contact' there. You want to rebuild the club with quality people? Rupert should always have been number 1 on the list. Trinity have a long history of getting most things right. Rupert is another example. A great get if it comes off.

Yeah have heard nothing but positive things about Sapwell and have had a few minor dealings with him personally and have found him good.

Is Trinity the biggest school in Australia? Thought I heard that somewhere as it sprawls across four campuses.

Also thought he headed up some program for at risk youth but can't recall exactly

Let’s assume it’s Sapwell, doesn’t that fly in the face of repeated comments we’ve made that this role would be filled after the footy ops manager as he would want a say?

Five campuses. About to be six with another new campus to be built. With nearly 4 000 kids it has been the biggest for a long while. Now been overtaken by one in Victoria (?) but that's because (I think I read somewhere) they have amalgamated with an overseas school and they count those kids as well.

Look, that actually sounds pretty good.

Top level sport experience, plus strong recent experience working on the future development of young men. Probably a good mix.
