Oh yeah Rooch is running with that.
Bigger story is Robbo in the background there behind Doogz oblivious to the scoop.
Growing his follicles out during 360 hiatus. Hooking into something. Fix that posture man!

We will be up to our eyeballs, but we won't be landing him. Grundy is just "doing a Pav", using us to drive up his asking price without having any intention of leaving Collingwood. The Pies will eventually pay him what he asks, even if it means shedding 2 or 3 lesser players in order to do so.
Pav initially wanted to come home, but we chose Carey instead...

We would have as there were draft sanctions. And was Wells really playing this year?
We never had pick #2. Never.

We received pick #4 from Richmond, for Kane Johnson. We traded that pick to North, for Carey. It was only after the conclusion of trade week that Carlton was stripped of picks #1 and #2, and pick #4 was shuffled up to pick #2.PNG

Both Richmond and Adelaide are on record as saying that they never would have traded the pick, if they knew that it would become pick #2 (Wells).

We wouldn't have had pick #2, because Richmond wouldn't have given it to us in the first place.

Yes we would have had Pick 2 if we didnt go after Carey.

2002
In: Pick 2 (Daniel Wells), Pick 18 (Kris Shore)
Out: Wayne Carey (Adelaide)

The end of Wayne Carey’s time at North Melbourne presented an opportunity for North to acquire its highest ever draft pick.

While Carey had been in exile during 2002, he was still under contract. So when he made his decision to go to Adelaide, the two clubs were forced to deal. Selection 4 was headed North’s way.

However, Carlton’s punishment for exceeding its salary cap changed the situation. The Blues lost picks one and two in the 2002 National Draft.

Pick four suddenly became pick two, and North was delighted to select Daniel Wells from Peel Thunder in the WAFL.

Except that the only reason we got the pick in the first place was to trade it for Carey...

The fact remains though we ended up with Pick 2. IIRC we got Pick 4 first from the Tigers for Sugar who wanted to go home, which become Pick 2 courtesy of brown paper bags Carlton. We didnt get the pick to trade for Carey, we got the pick because a Vic wanted to go home. Johnson had indicated this during that year.

We got the pick as a result of trading Johnson. We got the pick for the specific purpose of trading for Carey. If Carey wasn't involved, neither was pick #4.
