But he would have reached these heights & did in his final ....with us

Charlie was always underrated by Crows fans .....criminally so
Charlie has his moments with us but was also inconsistent.

He was largely in the wilderness last year due to injury and fell off the radar. He’s returned this year and got underneath the guard of the league generally.

Full credit to him and he’s thoroughly deserved the accolades he’s got.

However, with careful planning Richmond have reduced him to a virtual spectator and I will be interested to see how he goes the rest of the finals series and next year too.

Probably not. At least not until Betts and co retired. Until that point he would have been the same forward he was in 2016-2017 as we really didn't need him to do anything more than just be a defensive forward who scored at a goal a game click.

He was criminally underrated but that's because every defensive forward is.

Depends on your definition of defensive forward.

Charlie is very much an attacking weapon, as are the West Coast boys..... they just happen to chase and tackle a bit too

He wasn't though. In fact he spent a large portion of 2017 completely neutered in this regard.

He had some x factor sure, but he was a goal a game forward who was primarily focused on defensive work. That is a defensive forward. Sometimes they get off the chain though which happened in the preliminary final. Having attacking weapons doesn't exactly save you from that classification, just gives a side more value from putting you there.

We couldn't afford Cameron to be anything else. That structure was on a permanent knife edge.

Bailey Williams and 41 for Keath I'd do, an outside mid that can use the ball well ....yes please
Doubt pick 30 and Williams would be on the table but by all means try it on.

Can't see the Dogs entertaining pick 12 for Keath personally.

And David Mackay becomes obsolete

Got a bit excited about himself the last week or two.

Agreed, not just Charlie, but teams will have a good look at Brisbane as a whole over the break. Tougher draw and teams going to work on them will be interesting to see how they back it up next year.

Maybe..the one I would like us to try is Keath + 21 for 12 and see what happens. If it played out, we keep 3 get 12 and have 26 so we get a crack at the top end, then one off the good mid range 1st round talents and still have a good 2nd

Rumour that SOS doesn't want Eddie Betts and Brandon Ellis.
Ellis is in his prime, but can understand why he wouldn't want a 33yo small forward. Reality is Teague wants him due to the romanticism of the idea, rather than what's good for the team.

There has been way too much pushback for a front end PP for GC from the clubs and live pick trading has been front and centre of that. a PP that sits just before the teams playing finals would be the very best case they would expect to get and if that happens they should thank their bleddy lucky stars as they should not be getting one at all imo

Starting to have some doubts about how Charlie handles big games/finals pressure.....You?

Not in the sense he becomes timid or anything like that, just the mental side putting too much pressure on himself to perform.

Grimes is an AA. Lions need some help for CC in the forward line

I've always thought that was a logical compromise.

I don’t think that’s quite right. He was pretty flat throughout 2017 compared to where he he’d been projecting to. Certainly turned it on a couple of times later in the year, but he really was just holding onto his spot for a lot of that year.

Dogs looking at Martin and Bruce so no way will 12 be in the discussion for Keath.

Rumour heard over the weekend, re Gold Coast priorty pick.
Gold Coast to get pick 11, and if true they will be looking at trading Pick 11 and one of pick 15-18 (tied to Brisbane) for Melb pick 2.
I've said for a while we should be angling for Melbourne's pick 2. Even if it means taking a bath in the trade.

Force GC to make the tough choice of Jack Lukosius or Noah Anderson... Or just take Noah Anderson and see if JL comes back next year!

I really don't think Martin will go to the dogs. And Bruce is even less deserving of 12 then Keath.

I think 12 for Keath + 21 is a scenario they would have to consider. Really it's only a 9 position push back, and gives them a pick for Bruce.

Going to be an interesting scenario down at the kennel with them chasing Bruce, Keath and Martin.....they do have some pretty decent talent not getting games regularly aside from Bailey Williams that would get games at a lot of clubs. KPP Lewis Young and 187cm mid Lukas Webb two that come to mind.

Webb would be worth a look if he becomes a DFA in the next few weeks as well, I've always liked him right back to his Gippy Power days, unfortunately he has hardly ever had a decent go at the Dogs with their ridiculous midfield depth and when he has played it's usually forward when midfield is his go.

Dogs have drafted well in recent years. I think they have a good stable of young blokes. Some already have taken the next step. Others, its only a matter of time.

Trade this offseason makes sense for them. They are in 'win now' mode!
