Rumour heard over the weekend, re Gold Coast priority pick.
Gold Coast to get pick 11, and if true they will be looking at trading Pick 11 and one of pick 15-18 (tied to Brisbane) for Melb pick 2.
Giving them Pick 1 and 2 but leaving us with Pick 3.

Gold Coast winning a pick swap? Can’t be true.

Judd mentioned on Classified the other week that this might happen re; pick 11. Thought it was more hope and posturing but its a great result for us if its the case. Not sure Melb give up pick 2. Will have to be a great deal.

But he would have reached these heights & did in his final ....with us

Charlie was always underrated by Crows fans .....criminally so

I think most rated him quite highly, but there was a lot of justified criticism regarding the back half of his 2017 season. His first 10 games of that season were really strong, but then fell away drastically, possibly relating to his decision to leave the club. In his last 14 games for us he only kicked more than 1 goal in a game once(5 in PF), but had donuts in 6 of them. Prior to that he'd kicked 2 or more goals in 6 of his first 10 games.

This significant drop off clouded the picture significantly when he announced he was leaving, but I think we did well to get pick 12

Well if thats the case we trade pick 3 and a player or one of our second rounders to melbourne for pick 2...

Thats far more enticing for melbourne..

If youre giving up pick 2 youd rather it be for pick 3 and something else than for 2 picks between 11-20 you’d think..

**** the sun’s and their scroungy desperate attempts at getting the two mates.. the 600 pound gorilla can go **** himself...

Melb already mentioned they are prepared to Trade pick 2, for more picks in the 1st rd.
If they do then it takes GWS/Melb pick swap out of the picture and leaves us with the best hand to talk to GWS. ie swap you 2 x 1st for our pick 3 or we bid for Tom Green, Forcing them to use there 2 first rd pick anyway.
If Melb don't them we get into Melb for that pick.

I wonder if they would do picks 3 & 21 for 2 - but this is predicated on us getting a 2nd rounder for Keath to still leave us with 2 x 2nd rounders... The reason I say 3 & 21 is that they can still split 3 into some mid 1st rounders if that is what they want and they get 21 to boot. A big price to pay to get pick 2 but if it means we can take Anderson, he appears to be exactly the sort of player our midfield needs. Alternatively, it gives us a great bargaining chip to go to GC with to trade for Lukosius. All spitballing but we would be negligent if we did not ask the question surely

if both rowell and anderson are gone by our pick then i reacon its a given that we will bid on TG... GWS know this and thus know they need to get above us or get our pick if they have any hope of keeping their first rounders to spend on something else...

It means they are in a precarious position.. something we should take as much advantage of as possible.

If melbourne are looking at trading pick 2 then we should be all over it like a cheap suit... we have the next pick.. melbourne can get pick 3 and something else of value off of us for pick 2 and then still trade down again using that pick 3... maximises the value of pick 2 even further for them...

Starting to have some doubts about how Charlie handles big games/finals pressure.....You?

Not in the sense he becomes timid or anything like that, just the mental side putting too much pressure on himself to perform.
Yeah a little. He says it himself in that podcast interview that dealing with the intensity of expectations in this city was tough.

I agree with Mattymac that more work will go into the whole Lions side over summer.

I think when a perennial failure comes good there can be a period of thinking they won’t maintain the rage and will fall away.

Charlie is now seen as one of the premier forwards in the competition, so he will now get all the defensive attention that comes with that tag. How he deals with it will determine if he’s a one hit wonder or a HoF’mer

pick 2 would definately get luko off the suns... the suns know their best hope of keeping Rowell is by getting anderson or vice versa..

The more you think about it.. the better our position looks..

The only thing that screws us is if the AFL give the suns a pick 2 pp..

Its a better outcome than pick 1. Personally I'd rather the AFL give them 2x end of 1st rounders. The 1st round's too compromised as it is with NGA/FA without the AFL throwing in priority picks. End of 1st round picks I think work better as a club like GC is probably far more likely to trade them for an established player than an earlier pick where picks' values get blown way out of proportion.

I agree, I think we're in prime position to potentially leverage something out of GWS. I expect if we trade pick 3 for 11 and 13 though they would demand 21 and 26 back so that they can still pay for a top 10 bid for Green. After 13 currently GWS don't have any picks until 49, so trading 11 and 13 for 3 still has them in a pickle for Green.

Giving GWS 3, 21 and 26 would effectively be handing them 2x top 10 picks, I suspect they wouldn't mind paying reasonable value for such.

As an example it could end up:
GWS: Pick 3 + 21 + 26 + Jacobs
Crows: Pick 11 + 13 + 2020 GWS 1st rounder + Hately

No way I'd be giving up pick 2 for 11 + 15-18
We go to melbourne “heres pick 3 and 21 for pick 2”... “take pick 3 and tell GWS you are going to bid on TG so you better give us youre two firsts for pick 3”..

We take pick 2 and tell the suns “heres pick 2 for luko and we want a second rounder back too and if you dont like that then FO cause we will take Anderson and get Luko off you next year for less anyway!”

We get luko and a second rounder, or we get pick 2 for anderson or rowell..
Melbourne turn their 1 pick into 2 firsts and a very early second. All picks under 25.
GWS get green and still get pick 3.
And
The suns get what they deserve for being welfare dependant scum..

Win, win, win, lose...

The Herald Sun are reporting that Sam Jacobs could be headed back to Carlton and has done a medical

They also say we are offering him a one-year, incentive based deal
Mate, i'm 99% sure the editor of the Herald Sun just picks a random player out of the hat each Monday and claims they are 'linked to Carlton'!

Pretty much every FA has already been linked there and the offseason hasn't technically started yet!
