Think Kiewa and Thurgoona Landing Thompson and Doswell respectively still has them on the top doesn’t look like many sides have been recruiting to well, looks like wahgunyah have lost the most from anyone going by the Clearances and Dederang have picked up a few but no names that i have heard of so not sure if senior or seconds players

Going off clearances Wahgunyah has lost no one , as your mob doesn’t like letting blokes leave. But word at the cricket sheds Saturday is that all the players will sit out 2019 if they aren’t cleared, for the sake of football let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.

J.Johnstone will be a big inclusion for the doggies.
Tallangatta will slide down significantly after losing Livo, Russel and Johnson.
Kiewa adding Thompson and Andrew has them well on top for me.

For what it’s worth-
Kiewa - Premiers
Thurgoona - R/up
D.Wilson - Barton
Wah - spoon

Kiewa losing Di Mizio might hurt a bit?

Kiewa v Thurgoona grand final.

The competition needs a big revamp soon, to many sides are struggling to get numbers, I can’t see bullioh being good for the comp in 2020
Not enough people/players in places the league have teams.

Where is Dimizio going?

Who are the best 10 players in the competition?

Ill get the ball rolling, not necessarily with the top 10 players but the one player from every other club you’d like to have.
Kiewa- Di Mizio
Thur- Rampal
Barny- Anson
Hoppers- O’Connell
Mitta- Dower
DMB- Ohlin
Beech- K.Surrey
Yack - Castles
Lions- Milne
Chiltern- Whitehead
Saints- Gilchrist

Quite hard this time of year as we don’t know exactly what’s happening on other clubs lists . So this is based on clearances and heresay.

Top 10

J.Di Mizo- Kiewa
D.Wilson- Rutherglen
J.Kotzer- Thurgoona
B.Dower- Mitta
J.Farwell- Rutherglen
T.Castles- Yack
G.Telford- Kiewa
C.McNeil- Barny
K.Brown- Thurgoona
M. Rampal- Thurgoona

Rutherglen on the verge of 2 key signings to put us right back up with the pack. Our mates down the road sound as if they’re in a world of pain losing upto 20 players due to the club playing around with a few contracts , Has anyone heard anything similar ?
Couple of young blokes from across the river Rumbles?

Fair few top line players leaving the competition this year anybody worried about the quality of the footy dropping off ?

The comp hasn’t been in a great state for a long time.
It’s very stale, it’s December and It’s out of 3 teams for the grand final.
To many teams try to go all out for 1-2 years and might scrape into finals then have a coaching change and back to the drawing board.

There are a few major issues with the league.
To many teams have small town populations to sustain success.
Clubs administrators are poor at their jobs due to being a volunteer role and most likely having no experience doing it.
Salary cap, for a small place like Mitta for Eg they should have a travel allowance. (From Albury-Wodonga only)
A team needs to merge or fold to create an uneven amount of teams to have an extra bye. (Opinion not why the comp is struggling)

Or Mitta could recruit better.
I think trying to get a few locals back like the have this year is a better option than bringing up guys from Melbourne like they did last year

For a district league in such a sustainable area there only looks to be the two teams who are able to be competitive year in year out . Is this due to the introduction of salary and points ? Or that there isn’t any decent footballers at the other clubs or a combination of both ?

Or are those clubs well run organisations with a view to sustainability and long term success, rather than the clubs that save up a few bucks, recruit some players for a year or two who generally take off when the cash is gone. Those two teams were competitive each year long before the introduction of salary cap & points.

First day back at the office in 2019 for most of us today which also means that training starts for most clubs . Did any club happen to land a recruit over the holiday break?

Two of your boys from Rutherglen have signed with BB Saints
