Good read. Such a reliable player and so composed, always makes the right decisions. Hard to believe it's his first year and still only 22, would be great to see him hopefully one day reach similar heights as Tom Stewart.

Thought he was off to the Crows for a split second. Heart in mouth stuff.
Tell me about Rossy, was he good to you?
Yep, people's' moral compass goes out the window with some success. The party drug culture, the ashwood rape, the wife bashing all dusted over.Lot's of flags=credits in the bank.
Last post before I go off air.
Anybody who wants to hear some of the antics of Watters at St.Kilda, listen to the footyology podcast with RoCo and Finey.
Finey gives two mild examples of Watters paranoia while coach.
Tom Lee? FMD

The players weren’t allowed to say the name ‘Brendan Goddard ‘ at the club because he publicly shamed Watters calling him the ‘dwarf’ on The Footy Show. LOL.
He was going to strip Nick Riewoldt of the captaincy & appoint Armo & Tom Lee plus others unmentioned. What a whack job.
It sounds like he was an absolute joke at the club.
holy s**t!
sounds like when you get a new manager join your company and no one respects him. everyone knows its a failed appointment. then the manager starts to strong arm any opposition, which is literally everyone. in other words you're counting down time until he's sacked. would have been players and coaches, make that all of club, against watters.
the dwarf thing doesn't make the playing group look very good nor watters. just bad all around. i can see why dal isn't proud of it and regrets it.
the nick roo thing paints watters in an extremely bad light. shows literally anyone in the power base didn't like him. no wonder roo wanted to walk. he wouldn't have taken that very well. insulting!
david armitage and tom lee. fmd. only way it could be worse is if tom ledger was vice captain.
Mark Fine said they were the mild antics.
Reckons he could talk for half an hour on what Watters did.
Some bad s**t by the sounds of it.
Really the people who appointed him, should have gone with him at the same time.
Appalling administration
Give Watters his own thread, then i dont have to read anything about him.
Talk about living in the past.
Only coach he didn't thank or even acknowledge the existence of when he retired. He isn't fooling anyone saying they have a great relationship. This doesn’t necessarily mean the captaincy thing isn’t true, but Roo did say he had/maintains a good relationship with Watters. This whole discussion has been spoken of purely in extremes.
Burke chimes in...
Great article!
Yep great insight into modern structures.Great article....great read.
I always listen to what Burky has to say.
His comments after the little guy got the boot were very interesting.
Thanks for the link VDS66.
Small man syndrome & a complete narcissist. God knows what made him think his actions would be effective. Inflated ego & poor judge is my guess.
Good read cheers mate.
The reality is that he stepped into an organisation just after we lost successive GFs and one that had an established senior core of players.
The smart move would have been to engage with this core, explain your plans and explain your philosophy on the game and success.
Whilst his intentions may have been correct in terms of a successful culture etc, it seems his execution was appalling.
By alienating your senior group, he had condemned himself to failure, and it all went to s**t from there IMO.
Bottom line is he wasn't up to it.
On the flipside and to his credit, Richo did the opposite with Roo and he stuck around to help the next gen come through.
Perhaps a more inclusive and less abrasive approach by Scott might have brought about a different outcome.
However it just looks like he didn't have the right tools to become a head coach based on his personality and communication skills.
IMO
