Have to admit I don’t see it with froggy. He’s average skilled, averaged paced, an average afl player. Must be performing roles that I can’t identify.

I am reliably informed that it's "thankless roles" mate.

Too many average guys in our team, hence we are average. The concerning thing is he’s top 3 in our b&f.

It's the most bizarre placing I have EVER seen in the Syd Barker.

Personally I wouldn't peg him for top 3. But thats the clubs view I guess.

But I don't regard him as lowly as most do. He's a cog in the machine, a bit player, every team needs and has guys like him.
He's extremely consistent and runs out games well. Will probably never win a Syd but he's worth -way- more to us on the field than on the trade table.

Dumont has gut run for a couple of years and this year he put in noticeably more 'desperate' efforts. Has pretty much improved his body and game each and every year he's been at the club. I suspect he's been forced to pick up a lot of the slack of a defensively (and speed and endurance) lacking midfield, and that's what the coaches are seeing.

What's interesting is the red guys being such big impact players, i.e they make those desperate 1%ers that can turn a game, but the yellows are the most consistent of the bunch

The Syd Barker scale is simply massive, with everyone able to get points, versus our much more traditional scoring here. It makes sense.

Oh I totally agree, but the fans see things very differently as we probably spend much more time praising the game saving small time parts where the club sees things more holistically

Got NFI what they see in Dumont, and going by the pre-count tips, neither does the rest of this board.

2 x posters tipped him to come 10th.
1 x poster tipped him to come 9th.
1 x poster tipped him to come 6th.

No one else had him in their places.

Amazing.

Pick the top ten, not in order though.

Edit: apologies, missed Jed

Double Edit: lol I picked 11. Throw Hunter out of my selection and i get 10 out 10. Anderson wasn't top 10 but I'm half cut so forgive me

If you are talking about this board's extremely basic voting system where the least worst player in a 100 point loss earns the same number of points for that game as a 30+ contested possession game in a win against the top team, then yeah, the Syd Barker makes sense. Big Footy board voting system needs an overhaul desperately.

Wrapped for Cunners. Still reckon he's one light at only 2 given the way he's played last 6 years. . Not a fan of our voting system Only top 6 should get votes each week as it ensures that only those that actually have an impact on games get votes. Any system that has Ziebell tying with BBB and has Dumont beating BBB is very questionable. BBB is a comp leader - the other two are no where near that.

Maybe I see too much of his foot skill as a key weakness of his game or maybe it was just in crucial periods of play I saw him turn it over?

He has some really good delivery into the 50 when he's got time and space (though I'd definitely say it wasn't as evident this year). However he's as likely to miskick as anyone else when he's disposing under pressure or after gut running for 30 seconds, which is pretty often. Also not the best handballer going around regardless of circumstance.
