Their opponents are panicking everytime the best offensive mid in the game charges into the zone. Makes it a bit easier for them to do their jobs.
Fair enough, but at what stage do we move from excusing poor games?

Ive heard excuses ranging from he is only young, it was a failure of the forward line setup, we are too Brown centric, our inside 50s are poor then it was the coach and game plan isn't conducive to small forwards etc. Now it's a new coach with half a season and a new game plan and there has been no change in output. No coincidence his two best games for the year was against Gold Coast and Melbourne, where he played as a defender. Needs more footy, more goals, more tackles. And by those measures, he is well behind most in the competition, not just the tigers.

If only we used the same blind faith in say, Trent Dumont, or our up and coming key defenders which history has proven take time to develop.

Really only Butler resembles Kayne as a player. All of Rioli, Castangna, and Higgins are very different footballers and much more effective forwards. Hell even Butler is statistically superior, and they basically delisted him.

Both Richmond and West Coast demonstrated you can build a forward line around smaller types IF they are able to both pressure, set up scores and hit the scoreboard themselves.

On the other hand, we currently have one small forward, who rates poor for goals, poor for score involvements, average for tackles inside 50, average for forward pressure and average for one percenters.

Imo, he's the embodiment of 'tries hard, not quite good enough'; and we desperately need to upgrade our small forward stocks at this draft.

Kane is one of those players I’m most interested to see how he responds to simpler, clearer roles under Shaw.

Kayne did average about 1.1 goals in his second year and IF he was kicking 25+ goals a year it would be a big difference.

I totally get the frustration with him but I’m keeping an eye to see if Shaw can get the most out of him.

So now they've got 12, 16, 18, 52, and a bid for Mead to deal with. How many list spots?

Leaving out the garbage picks, that's 16 to port for 29 and their 2020 1st, which will be well earlier than 16. Brisbane make out like bandits. With (now) 21, 29, 34, 48 they weren't using those 50's picks anyway.

Youd assume Port will take 5 selections at the draft. 52&55 to match Mead and the 3 first rounders.

Not sure when the deadlines are to delist players and make pre-draft night trades but wed want to do one of those while we can.

There probably safe to take him at 12 and Gould at 16 before Geelong.
which leaves them with 18.

theyve bet a lot on this draft and last draft.

Pretty much nailed that though.

Add a couple more SA boys, without the go home factor and they’re away. They’ve left the other west Horsham for dead.

Yep, totally. That Gibbs trade, jeeezus.

Adelaide have a long bottom out ahead of them.
