I'm not convinced that picking up B and C grade players from other teams is going to make us A grade. I've caught this show before and It never seems to end that well. Getting two top 20 picks in this draft has a much better ring to it.

Mate we're all over sport science as you'd know and you got it wrong.......

Well, you know how we went all out on the JP's last year, can we snap up all of the Sam Frosts this year?

Let’s be honest, Melbourne best defender isn’t a great honour. They have May who prepares like a suburban footballer, Lever who was coming back from injury and injured most of the year, Oscar Mcdonald who’s awful and Hibberd who is half the player he once was.

Frost has great closing speed, probably elite for a KPD. His skills are average and he’s a poor decision maker. Has some serious WTF moments.

Personally, I don’t see the point in getting him.
Is he a bad kick, or a bad decision maker? Or both? All I can remember about him are those WTF type moments you are referring to.,

Agree. In almost 200 games with us, I can't think of any where he was BOG. Hasn't torn games apart.

With his size and pace, he hasn't been a great
line breaking half back flanker like a JJ, Saad, Houli..
midfielder who racks them up and serves our forwards
run with player to shut down the oppositions best players

Been OK overall, maybe even "solid" if we're being generous, but hasn't reached the expected heights.

It's not the best system but he's polled Brownlow votes Only once - 2 v Gold Coast way back in 2012, a year they won 3 games. So your memory is correct.

it’s more his decision making , he likes to run off his opponent due to his speed but can sometimes run himself into trouble . This can be worked on , Hawthorn don’t recruit players who can’t kick

The Jasper Pittard pre-trade thread is that-a-way.

I recall a few posters on here being pretty livid when were linked to Higgo, Waite, Marley, Pittard…

Let’s take a step back and back the club in, especially with Brady at the helm.

The club hasn't actually done anything of note recently (even Melbourne got themselves trashed in a prelim) so those of us who don't have blind faith should be excused.

Dom Tyson, Jordan Gysberts were pretty pointless selections too from Melbourne. Why would we want more C-grade players from Melbourne?

I'm all for picking up depth from other clubs if they improve on our bottom tier players (either in the best 22 as upgrades on Turner, Macmillan or VFL as upgrades on Hrovat this year, Campbell) but players who can't kick out of defence are a liability.

He was and had a hard year with a lot of the year having to do a lot of the work alone. He'll look very good behind Tarrant.
Eagles and tigers backlines are the barometer at the moment and Frost certainly wouldn’t be out of place in either.
He’s that good size who can play tall or small and quick enough to come across and help out if needed.
I also think his decision making would go up, when surrounded by Pittard, Tarrant, Marley even McMillan.

Great post, well done. So much 'potting' of players on here, based on nothing much more than personal bias, which when you challenge with facts, you get put down for being some sycophant for Scott, Brayshaw <insert someone else said to be incompetent>

You, on the other hand, have acute things to say about someone's who's done his best, without living up to the hype that went with all smug nonsense - remember? haha! Look at Essendon, what a mistake they made by picking Heppell instead of Atley! What a mistake

So instead of that kind of shallow commentary, you review the facts and express an opinion based on them

Well done! Long may you reign

Our biggest problem is in the center, if we can get zac jones, then it would be a great start. As good as papley, he isn't a need but a want, we achieve what we have over the last few years without a decent small forward. But we have been exposed greatly with our bottom of the ladder clearance. We need 3 specialist center clearance players.

Start on Dougal.

If Frost is available for a 4th rounder or something equally throwaway (Tyson back to the Dees), and there's some LT concerns over Daw/EVW or both, then I'd go for Frost without much expectation.

I agree Howard is a much better prospect and should be our main concern. If we can somehow work that deal and add Frost then we are set for a few years defensively and the priority becomes replacing Tarrant in a few years. Lessens any blow if McKay seeks a trade too.

Saying that I've been of the opinion all year that our KPD stocks need two AFL ready additions as our main priority so these links are stoking a sweet fire within me.

If Zac Jones didn't have an angry tough guy look about him, I guarantee his contract would be half the size. Overrated as *. He's not a specialist centre clearance player. He is a get ball, run, panic, blaze away without looking player. Guess what teams do these days? They have defenders who confidently come off their man to intercept at 6-6-6 times, and they have a loose man at other times. Zac Jones is a detriment to any modern side, but because he frowns and is bald he is talked up as a star. I cross my fingers like hell we aren't the club to give 600k and a first rounder for him.

Also I think saying "we achieve what we have over the last few years without a decent small forward" is actually evidence we need one....we've not made finals since Thomas was put out to pasture, our 'best' years under Scott he kicked 116 goals in 3 years. We need a decent small forward.

Yes correct but during scott's time, our center clearance wasn't as bad as it was this year. We last for clearance i do hope that the club can see this and address the problem as the no.1 concern.

Oh well if we get him at least he can fill a "whipping boy" role. We always need one or two of those.

But in other news, Campbell came 3rd in JJ medal. We can say bye bye to goldie as campbell is both younger and far more physically powerful. If geelong wants him, we will match his offer and force a trade even if its for 2nd rounder. Campbell is much more physical with ability to kick goals. Also he is less fit hence will allow a 2nd ruckman to be played or that Larkey will do a bit more rucking.

Mate if you want " less fit" we could russel up a starting 18 from big footy. Although I do enjoy your posts, keep it up.
