I think if people have an issue with the possible trade itself, they should direct that angst at the club and not Jack.

The insinuations that he is sucking the clubs money or selecting when to play are just disgusting IMO.

OK now I'm REALLY leaving the discussion...
You can check out but you can never leave....

You will also notice that particular poster which was gosaints has no idea about mental illness. He thinks Jack just picks and chooses when to train and he has dome nothing for our club this year. Im really disgusted that people just don't get it today. maybe years ago it could be explained but there are far to many articles on the internet and on TV not to realise the importance of understanding mental health. To some though its just an excuse. They aren't really sick. Where are the broken bones?
Its been bothering you, has this.

And rightly so. Its only in last decade has it come to light the amount of people suffering mental illness.

Before you judge anyone, a small but damning stat, suicide is the leading killer of men aged 15-29. Just let that sink in for a minute.

All Stevens, or his manager, has to say is that yes, I want to go to Geelong to be near the family but I will only go if St Kilda are fairly compensated. Then it's in Geelong's hand to give us a mid to late 1st rounder and off he goes. If Geel say nah, we'll give you pick 30 then he stays and sits out the year. There is no need for us to roll over to one of our competitors.

And we all know it was pure luck Majak wasn't another one. maybe 20 years ago I thought the same but surely we are educated enough now to know how serious it is.

Well firstly his name is Steven and secondly there is 5 games to go.

I thought that previously but when you see how his health has played out this year, obviously he is a lot more unwell than most supporters envisaged.

And again apart from you who is saying crap compensation? And because it is mental illness we arent better off saying no you can just sit out the year. We lose on any front if we say that. And i don't think Jack has mentioned home sickness at all. What has been mentioned is it may be better for him around family and friends.
Sorry, someone mentioned before that he has "mental health issues" not a "mental illness". You mention Mental Illness. Is there a difference? Is one less of an impairment than the other? Should 1 be treated any differently to the other? Or is it just semantics?

Not asking just you Plugger, but everyone in general.

I lost brother my suicide three years ago. I've seen personally seen how ****ed up depression can be. Anyone that suggests Jack may be putting this on to get put of a contract lacks respect and has little clue.

We would all love to get a kings ransom for Jack, but I'd be disappointed in the club if they held him to his contract because of a slight difference in picks.

I also think Geelong have a part to play in this and I doubt they'll be looking to rip us off. His value won't be near what it was last year but we will get something for him.

Need an expert. All I know is its stopped him playing the game he loves.

Illness can refer to the more serious of cases, bipolar, schizophrenia, but also semantics in casual use

That's awful mate. Deepest condolences.

When you are clinically depressed getting to the shower, let alone 100kms up the road is a challenge. If his mental health is his number one priority, as it should be, his optimal environment for recovery and management of his condition is one that provides familial and professional support in the most convenient way.

Most players spend 5-6 days at the club, training and playing. Travelling for hours each day is stressful and demotivating. When depressed, things that seem trivial or inconsequential to others, take on monumental proportions for sufferers. A truly terrible illness.

Don't dispute any of that but the life of an AFL footballer involves an insane amount of travel regardless of whether you play for st kilda or geelong.

Infact it's 70kms each way between lorne and kardinia park.

Yet presumably that wouldn't be a problem?

I think the delineation is helpful here. I'm not aware 100% of the entire Steven situation, but best I can ascertain is that he only may have a psychiatric disorder. Nothing about that is concrete at all. Other rumours about family illness and relationship separation/custody are either the root cause, or have exacerbated any existing issue. Again, all of this is mostly baseless rumour.

Well his family is out of Lorne or he may live between them and training and it then makes it 20 minutes each way.

Koby has already retired.

Boundary hotel. Cant say banger has a lot to do with my form there. Think im one from a thousand. At least that's 20%. If I can improve by another 97% that will give me 100% success.
I’ve seen you in the cider bar. Didn’t take you for a pear cider type of guy, but here we are.

If Jack Steven wants to go to Geelong he should stay in the reserves. Stuff Stuv. We then should demand a FRDP from the inbreds.
Wouldnt Stuv playing a couple of really good games at AFL level increase our chances of a FRDP
Yep I've changed my tune on Stevens. Had enough of his maybe I'll leave, maybe I won't, maybe I'll play, maybe I won't. I bet he doesn't forget to pick up his huge wage. Sandy for the rest of the year and then trade him for whatever we can get.
Think you need to have a read on Mental Health Issues
