Exactly. And I think Coffield replaces Savage or Geary. At least that’s the hope.

Clark replaces Steele, Dunstan or one of the forwards.
I have Steele easily in the best 22. Dunstan, who really knows. His form since being dropped was great but there are question marks on if he can keep it up. I hope he does.

But Clark instead of one of those forwards is an easy decision.

I’m not sold on Steele. Definitely think we need to move past the point of having both Steele and Dunstan in the same side. Not enough spread, speed or attack from either. Neither are high accumulators either.

I’m hoping it’s Bytel longer term but until then I’d probably go with Steele.

Dunstan is totally needed for his clearances and contested ball winning.
Steele is our highest rated mid i think, ( though party due to his tackling ).

I'd think that both of them are more necessary than Jones, Ross or Clark.
Ross gets a lot of uncontested possessions.

Dunstan is getting better as that inside mid who wins a lot of contested footy but I’m not sure about his consistency. Steele is elite for tackling but can’t really win enough of the ball or go forward.

I think both can be part of a finals side but will we win a flag with either or both in the side? That’s really the problem I have with these two. How do they stack up to other inside duos?

A lot of panic posting going on here... just like some people were convinced we were definitely going to give away pick 5 for Carlisle.

Off absolutely no insider knowledge at all I would seriously doubt we would be trading both Carlisle and Bruce and my money, if either one does go, is on Carlisle, even if just for a healthier version with possibly more longevity because of it and because we have more cover down back.

I just cannot see our main forward target being traded, leaving us with Membrey and....?? Even with Ryder possibly coming in. And I know there’s Ming but he hasn’t kicked a ball in anger yet.

The constant doomsday prophesying can get a little wearying.
Agree with all of this DH. Even the spacing....

Or they could be the perfect one. Anyway it’s condescending to imply someone “needs” a mentor. It’s also not a good enough reason to gift someone a contract.
exactly ... Parker isnt a teenager he is a grown man with a young family and is living the dream to provide for that family ... he needed a mentor ealy to get him into the AFL the peers he works with are mentors enough , the son who he comes home to each night is enough to motivate him to keep the right path ...

What would Billings be worth in a trade? We’d ask for a top 10 pick at least you’d think. Hill is currently a better player than Billings, so ppl thinking we can get him for 15 are dreaming, it’ll be pick 5, and we might get a 3rd back to make it look better.
Underrating Billings and overrating Hill, not to mention Billings 3 years younger. 61B96332-2BB2-4B34-A11D-6321908C3523.jpeg

Get your point but we need to change our midfield , it is the one area we know we need changing / who has to move I don't know but Steele is the only guy that can hold there own with Cripps and Oliver - so to me it's Marshall / Steele / XXXX / XXXX , the 2 starting positions are up for grabs - will Steven get back fitness and form , will Hannebery get back to his best , can Hunter Clark take a role in the middle next year.

whatever happens what we have been running with needs changing.

All this talk about getting all these players Gray , Keath , Ryder , Jones I feel we don't need them we need a Wines , B.Crouch , Whitfield type before anything.

Ryder would be a good back up ruck , but playing him in the forward line just makes it so much slower and if he is such a good forward why don't Port want him , they lack forward's and at 32 do we really feel his body is going to hold up - he did his best at Port this year in a attempt to get a contract extension but age catches up to everyone.

I'd rather a ruck prepared to play at Sandringham until Marshall is hurt.

Any of Savage, Dunstan, Kent, Long, Lonie, Jones and Hind.

OK , so that would mean that getting Jones is a total waste , and we shouldn't even think about it.
Are we running Clark as a forward, or just running him through the midfield and listing him as a forward?

Score Launch: Scoring chains launched by an intercept possession, free kick, hitout-to-advantage or clearance.
Marshall 2.8/game, Dunstan 2.1, Gresham 1.4 , Ross 1.4 , Steel 1.2 ,Clark 1.2 , Sinclair 1.1 , Billings 1.1, Hill 0.8

Score Involvements:
Ross 6.3/Game Hill /6 , Gresham 5.6, Dunstan 5.4, Billings 5.3, Hind 4.8, Sinclair 4.7, Newnes 4.7 , Acres 4.5 , Steele 4.5, Hannebery 4.4

I guess another option could be for Billings to play forward again, where he might be more dangerous than any of our current lot.

Billings is only 2 years younger. Aug 95 vs Jul 93. I think Hill has more runs on the board than Billings at the moment due to more years at an Elite level, both would have similar value though I think, Billings will start to pull ahead now though.

No he’s not, he’s very good at what he does which is uncontested outside run with pace.

I'd rotating him through the midfield/backline and then have Billings spend more time forward.

While Billings had a really good season on the wing, I would play him at half forward especially if we get Hill. I just think him getting 22 disposals at half forward would be more impactful and valuable to us scoring than him getting 28 on the wing. He lost a lot of confidence in that role last year, but I think very few players in the competition could have as much impact at half forward as Billings can.

Here are his totals and averages from 2019 on the wing v 2017 at half forward. The only real difference is how much more scoreboard impact he had in 2017 - which is something we are desperate for. A strange as it sounds, we are almost wasting him on the wing when he can be having a much greater impact in the forward line.

Billings averaged 2 more CP a game this year and just over 2 marks more. Compared to Hills extra 100m gained a game. I think they are very comparable players, Billings has more upside being younger, Hill has been Elite for longer. Both would be in the top 3-4 wingers in the comp with McCluggage and Whitfield though, I’m not trying to slight Billings at all either he’s arguably our best player atm.

I love this and the best part is plugger can’t respond, I’ve posted before that billing’s finds a lot of ball at h/f which makes him a match winner.

I’d play Gresham as a small forward for the same reason, both can get some midfield time but I prefer them as forwards. That’s a very dangerous forward set up with them in it.
