Didn't Peake get Stanley, Cripps and Tom Lynch. Cripps was a pick in the 20s then he didn't come back in until the 40s where he got Crocker, Ledger at 59 and Siposs at 75. They were s**t picks to work with and a draft with 8 out of the first 13 draft picks taken by GC and they'd already plucked the 17 year olds from before that.

2009 we used our highest pick on Lovett and didn't get back into the draft until the 30s where we took Winmar. Also rookie Hutchings that year and picked up Pattison from Richmond as a ready made.

Trout has had nearly his whole list turned over in the last 5 years and we are trying to trade out or replace the rest. Yeah, he was great. Trout had high picks due to our ladder position and blew most of them.

Trout is massively over rated on here.

The guy got fired and people still think he was doing well in the role.

Having watched Keath a fair bit over here Brut I wouldn’t underestimate him. He’s a very good checking defender that reads and intercepts well. He is a much better 1 on 1 than what I’ve seen of Thommo.

No doubt he had a good year, but if I am picking between a 28 year old defender with one year of exposed form who we will need to give up a reasonable pick for and a 26 year old defender who has the ability to play around the ground with many years of consistent AFL football in a top 4 team who is free, I am picking the free 26 year old every time.

With the pick we would need to give Adelaide to get Keath, we could get another player who fills a need and Tomlinson.

Is it ironic at all that we trade out our best target inside 50 for potentially a guy who will be the best player on our list at hitting targets inside 50?

Irony is strange, I fully understand it in my head (I think) but never really seem to use it correctly.

I have a mate that uses it wrong all the time. Like, “ahh you are thinking about going to Italy? Ironically my sister has been there”. Says it so often it’s too hard to tell him that it’s wrong.

and Anderson if GC are willing.

I'd much rather see us try for that and then look at FA in the next 2 years as our kids are really starting to fire.

Clark, Bytel, Anderson, Jones, Steele and Dunny looks a pretty good set of players to develop into a strong midfield group.

I like your positivity but I think Bing would take 5 and Bruce's pick, Stuv Geelong want to give us a third or fourth rounder or Cam Guthrie, if we can turn that in to Constable I think it's a win.
Anderson would mean we get pick 2 off them so would probably take our future first and a player now that is better than rubbish, maybe a Dunstan if you were lucky. Ryder probably a future 4th round pick or compo from Acres and Hill trades. Jones will probably cost next year's second round pick, Sydney are asking for a future first, we would have to give a future second you would imagine.

My guess is we are offering pick 5 and Acres for Hill and Freo's second round pick. That pick to Sydney for Jones. Keath I can't work out value on, some are saying a future second some a future third.

Personally.......I'll wait until something becomes fact....if it rankles me....then I'll go into full meltdown.

There is IMO.....way too much jumping at shadows and rumours becoming blown out of proportion.

They would know at RSEA what needs to be done...…..it's just how do they do it.....drastic times sometimes require drastic measures.

Time will tell of course.

The sad thing is I used to hate Big Mart on SS and I've turned into him.

I can't remember my username on ss or saints central. But I'm certain its simliar to one of my old online poker handles. While most normal ppl, would go the positive, confident, cheerful route, names like, Winner88, PokerGod, SureWin, etc. I preferred being unique, so i did the opposite.

Well, that means they can offer us either;
1. 1st RDP
2. A gun mid

Bruce is potentially the last part in their jigsaw puzzle. He is worth more to them than Collingwood and they have the currency.

We could do very well out of this deal. I’d rather trade in a young gun than a draft pick.

My take on Josh Bruce is that he's the only one the list that would get us a first round pick that we can afford to lose.
I don't like it, I don't want it.
The others that would get us a first round pick, Billings, Gresham and Clark, need as much help as they can get, the whole point is that we need mids and bloody good ones too. Not one or two but at least three, with the prospect of losing Stuv and Acres we may need Hill plus another three.

If Bruce goes as much s I don't like it, in Marshall, Battle, Ryder, Membrey, Ming, and the possibilities of Mayo, Joyce and Bigoa we have options next year and in the future.

If we go down this path we will also need another ruck man plus Ryder.

Bruce was actually dropped for McCartin once upon a time, so I guess someone saw it.

And if we are willing to trade Bruce I'm guessing someone at the club thinks he's overrated.

I currently don't have too high hopes for our draft trade period. Not too worried about losing Snake, Bruce is underrated and would sting but surely we don't give up a 4 time BnF who's still only 29 up for basically a packet of chips. Not only that but the people we're targetting are barely an improvement on most of our list. Jones is a bigger butcher than most of our list ffs, I'm sick of tryers who have more heart than everyone else, can we please not bring in another good runner who can't ****ing kick? Karl Amon, great; a 15 touch a game winger/forward flanker. Constable, 22 touch a game inside mid with no kicking ability, an iffy tank and the turning circle of Kosi post Gia. Alex Keath, decent player, direct downgrade on Battle or Snake though. Tomlinson, fringe player at the Giants, does some good things but I don't think he's changed the outcome of a game in his entire career. The only one I'm even remotely excited about is Hill because we're finally bringing someone in who can ****ing kick, and for 900k a year no less. All this talk of watering down our picks in half baked schemes meant to maximise value by bringing in 4 C graders for the price of one early first round pick drive me insane because on the off chance that someone from the club has a similar idea we'll be back to where we were 7 years ago. We still aren't fixing the problem everyone's seen for years now which is that we don't have enough elite players. 1 of our current supposed targets is elite, the rest can GAGF as far as I'm concerned; we've got enough B graders to support any gun in the comp now.

Hes fallen out of favour due to the success of Dunkley, return of Libba & development of Smith, I'm not advocating a direct swap for Bruce but if we get the feel that the dogs are frothing over Bruce we maybe able to pry their first & give them unders for Toby who's value has already taken a hit at only 24 he fits our age profile & need to build better quality mid depth

Firstly, one player being dropped for another doesn't mean that the one being dropped is worse; do you think Dal Santo or Milne were worse players than Eddy and whatever other scrub Lyon brought in that one time to kick them into gear?

Secondly, trading a player doesn't mean they aren't valued, it means they have value to someone else. If McCartin had ANY semblance of trade value left we'd be offloading him in a heartbeat but he doesn't.

I think you're overestimating our costs and underestimating our values.
