They are talking about Tom Papley going for pick 8.
We would officially be a rabble if we couldn't get more for Gresh who is a much better player.

And trading away Gresh plus something for another tall wit potential is just us going backwards again at a fast rate.
Papley is a real good player, but them overpaying for him doesn't mean Gresh would get a heap more. I'm not even saying I'd do the trade but if they were both on the table the bigger offers would come for Bing.

Mark Evans left the door open about Bing going to the Saints I reckon...

"It would take extraordinary circumstances "
Holy shit, you are literally doing what that Jim Carrey meme is doing - "you mean there's a chance" - but seriously. What was the name of that film?

Does it even count as fishing if a great big whopper jumps into your boat?

If bing wants to play with his brother for the next 15 years... we're hardly chasing him.

Eric Hipwood was better at the same age and 4 years in he's just behind Bruce in goals still. If we trade Gresh for another tall we are officially trying to break the club under the AFLs watch.

Can't wait for the real trade period to start so I don't have to read all this crap about nothing. If I wanted to read some of this stuff I'd just go to my missus's Facebook page. Not surprised most of the guys I like reading are silent at the moment. Think I'll come back next week. Enjoy letting Plugger wind you all up.

It should be based on how long you've been out of finals. Not the number of wins in a season. The wins are irrelevant really given the fixture its self is compromised.

All that should matter is if the club has played finals.

I reckon 9 years rules out tanking. No club will tank for 9 years.

Tbh I don't get why picks were handed out to begin with:
1) the draft is compromised to all hell and is only going to get worse,
2) it does nothing for GC in the short term which means they bleed more talent. There's no garuntee any of these players will be around by the time the compo ends,
3) it just provides more opportunity for big strong club's to steal more talent from them,
4) it hurts the other clubs rebuilding like us.

The better suggestion would have been to provide them with considerable cap concessions. Give them an extra 2 million a season and 1 marque player outside the cap for the next 5 years. That'd do more than these picks and it means you're not hurting the club's going to the draft.

I just don't get how you can cherry pick compo here for one club when the outcome for us i.e. no finals is the same.

Also on the playing finals this year. Plenty of us saw it coming. The form line was strong. It was never gonna happen. And it didn't.

On the admin isn't it irrelevant. I mean how do you even judge for consideration for priority picks?

I mean what would be your criteria here? If it's just win loss over a series of seasons then you would have 1 win each season for 5 seasons but then win a flag and still get one?
I like the idea of no finals. But again it should be done on a case by case basis, given like I mentioned if a team finishes just outside the eight year after year I would say they don't deserve a priority pick.

I don't understand your point around big clubs taking the players from them. It's the Suns job to retain their own players, just as it is every other clubs job. No the AFL or opposing clubs' faults for trying to bring in elite talent. I'm sure you wouldn't care if we did it to them.

I think you're contradicting yourself. You say priority picks will do nothing for them yet you want us to have one. Why? If it won't do anything for the reasons you mentioned why would we be better off?

I think if they get one then so should we.

I think the big issue here is there's no transparent criteria. It's purely subjective. Which makes it prone to rorting like now.

I think it'd help us. Player retention isn't our issue. Our problem is draft and development. I think there are two different problems here. At least it we **** the pick we know it's because we are no good at picking and developing talent like Melbourne.

Ours is probably harder to fix than retention to be honest which makes the whole idea of handing them more draft picks even more puzzling.

Like if retention is the issue then why not just financially reward them for staying on? Make it outside the cap so they don't get cap squeeze by finding the level at which people will stay.

The Gold coast suns compensation doesn't mean Jack to us. We're in the same position as the rest of the competition. They're am expansion club, they're here to say and the AFL makes enough money to prop them up. They're not going anywhere. It's time we stop whinging and think smarter.
With the change in the tv landscape this ‘money, the afl make could reduce drastically and quickly

Whisper out is that Sam Gray is a definite lock to pick us. Expect an announcement soonish.
Sounds like we don't rate the smalls we have. Like lonie, Kent and young.

The young pick is mystifying. To give Brian his credit he called it on draft night on that pick.
