So true. Very ordinary midfield. Need to work something out before Brisbane. I certainly don’t have any ideas. I know armo isn’t the answer but who is.
How dare you say Armo isnt the answer, that shimmy he did to get away from the invisible GCS player was sensational , his little lets were going at about 7500 rpm and yet he was going at about 5kph , Gold

Yeh Steven so sore with op could only manage 9 games in three yrs!! Perfect opportunity for Lyin to develop great young talent in awesome side but oh no let's play Eddie etc. the coach would not play the kids and certainly didn't develop them but you keep your opinion. Boring
Actually very true about his op. Finally got rid of it after an operation at the end of 09 or ten. Forgotten now. Why weren’t Steven and armo developed. Steven won 4 b and f. Seems like he developed just fine. Armo had a very good career. Seems like he was developed just fine. Maybe you need to know more inside info.

Marshall is papering over the cracks. He makes his small midfield group look far better than they are. His clearance work for a big guy is only bettered by Grundy.

Dunstan has improved his output & on current form is about as effective as Steele. We need both to go to another level if our midfield is to improve.

Gresh would be close to our best clearance player if you look at clearances vs time spent at stoppages. When he gets a tank we’ll be far better for it.

Add Steven & Hanneberry to the midfield group & we look a lot better.

What will he interesting is if we have a fit midfield group which includes Steven, Hanners & Steele who goes out? Clark, Armo &.....? Gee we look incredibly dour.

I still think we need outside class as a priority. Someone on the opposite wing to compliment Billings. Phillips, Sinclair & Newnes are not the answer & Acres is preferred in other positions & I begrudgingly accept he lacks the finishing skills.

Totally agree. Hanners will probably play that outside wing when jack gets back but before then he will be another mid He is slow but bloody quick by hand. Hard to tell from tv but thought acres may have played a lot of wing yesterday. I was watching that game but also Ormond so could be completely wrong.

You would think that’s the reason.. like Billings - could not have found form at a better time.. still, I hope we put in a decent offer! Kid can play.
For sure. Unfortunately he's at a club such also has a ridiculous amount of cap space.

Hopefully Hannebery surprises us with his body. We need him. Might be time to just bite the bullet and see how Acres goes in the middle. I know he's got his deficiencies but he looked quite good in the close contests yesterday. I didn't mind the Armo selection as we were desperate, but I'm not sure we should stick with it after yesterday.

If people are going to build him up as the goat of course you are going to cop more than a player who is built up as a camel. We know it’s a bit of fun but if you do these things that player will cop it. Yesterday was why some get so frustrated. His best is very good as shown in the second half. His worst is very bad as shown in the first half. His extremes are bigger than most.

Yeah it was perhaps the first time I've seen Acres in the centre square! I hope we give him a few games in there because he seemed to adjust and get better the more the game went on.

Which talent?
List them please.
As i see it Hutchings is the only one we missed.

I think we'll see Long and Parker moved up the ground in future and Hind might find a regular spot if he goes well.
With 5 years of dour coaching l wouldn't even expect the team to be able to utilize the option if it was there. We need some serious surgery on the list, but the mental side is just as important. I view Jack Newnes as the talisman for this culture. He's plateaued in his prime as an inconsistent b-c-d grader but is seemingly undropable. It guys like that who need to be moved on as a matter of priority if we're going to grow. I'd even be happy to see dinglelands promoted so at least we get to see something..

Seriously?

Think you’re confusing Ross with the current bozo.

CJ was the only tagger we had.

Fine rewrite history , no skin off my back.
Baker, Dempster.? Ray tagged.

We went into games with only Riewoldt and Milne playing forward.

But yeah...its all "current bozo"
We've never had so many forwards. EVER.

Jack got a rising star nomination under Lyon, and played even better under Watters and Richo.
In fact the coach didn't seem to make a lot of difference .
Watters was good for Steven cause he played him!. After club started regeneration program in 2011Lyin started playing Steven who was 21 and been in system 4 yes! Yes rising star nom but looks odd at that age

Yes completely disregard the op because it doesn’t suit the agenda.

Not disregarding op at all. From memory he had operations for that injury after 2011 season. My point stands that he was not given opportunities under Lyin. I started this conversation with Lynch and repeat he also not developed well under Lyin. My god his parents more than happy to tell you at Sandy games. You should have gone to them for your info

I notice Acres has been targeted again!

Yes, in the first half he made some terrible clangers but so did many others.

22 disposals & the only other player from both teams that played less game time was the injured White. Acres still third for disposals for us. He can find the footy.

Also 24 pressure acts which was the highest recorded on the ground suggest he gave a ****.

All hail GOAT.

Acres is one of those blokes who looks like he is always cruising ala Dal Santo. People get that confused with that as they think he is not having a go. It would be nice to see him show more urgency, but perhaps it is what it is.

Having said we need more dynamic midfielders and if a trade offer came up for any of the Eagles or Freos young ex Vic midfileders I would jump at it.

Lyon had clearly moved Armitage and Steven into the midfield by 2011.
What was kind of strange was selecting Eddy so much in 2010 , then not playing him at all in 2011.

Who would you suggest trading him for? Of the young Vic players there’s not much outside of Cerra & Brayshaw that interests me. I like Tucker for his skill & run but he’s yet another flanker. Acres has a point of difference not many on our list offer. He seems to be a barometer. I wouldn’t be parting with him easily.

Langdon would do....

It was after a grand final. Think it was 10. Not sure how he can be given opportunities when he pulled sure regularly from senior footy. By the way lynch played only one more game at Adelaide in his first year compared to his last. He admitted he didn’t train hard enough. Said it on the radio. Could be lying for no reason at all.

Ok. you are obviously so in the know, well informed and connected that I will leave this debate alone. You've got your opinion and I've got mine
