Our issue in high draft years is we drafted for need McEvoy = Dangerfield, McCartin = Brayshaw, King = Rozee. We have a history of avoiding spending high draft picks on natural midfielders.
McEvoy was traded out 2 or 3 years later- disastrous. McCartin is the most unfortunate and dumbest No 1 pick ever.
King might become a star but so will Rozee, Caldwell, Butters, Smith & probably another 5 mids from that draft year.

Best we could hope for is a second rounder and Dunstan as steak knives.

Our first (18) should get the job done.
We didn't take King because we were desperate for a key forward though. We took him because he was too good not to take. All the experts had him rated in the top 4 even after his injury (a lot had him ranked at one prior) and taking Rozee at four would have actually been a reach.
Let's let the kid play a game before you whinge about drafting him.

gone from reserves footy to seniors this year. quickish third tall forward type. can push up higher. reminds me a bit of matt parker mixed with say acres.

this is something WCE has done extremely well. players their fans wanted delisted to go back to the draft, they've kept around as experience and more mature level heads. it's worked wonders for them. then you never know they just might come good like masten was for WCE last year.

ex West Perth... for a subi guy like myself, it'd be like asking Saints supporters what they think of Collingwood. people over here thought he'd be listed by hawthorn hence the move. but that doesn't seem to have happened.
personally i think there are better options out there. i'm a big fan of Delucca.

It's a shame he isn't more contested. It would suit needs a lot more. He's a long way off what Stuv brings still as well. I don't mind the idea of getting him but it's a bit like showing Cyril's stats against another small forward, Stuv has been one of our few game breakers over the last how ever many years. Jones is good and possibly has more improvement but from what I've seen he's not quite the dominant force that Stuv is.
Sydney will want too much for Jones. He's a high 1st rounder. Maybe top 4 in there mids/utilities. They'll want a high 1st for him.

Jones would be a decent get.
Would be mad not to have a tilt at Kelly or cogs.
As bad as it is, robbo and paddy look more likely than unlikely to retire on medical grounds. Armo will retire. Plus war chest I think we already have means we have room for some big plays.
Billings and gresh will cost a bit but still think we have enough for two good players. One freeagrent and one trade.
What other options are out there?

I wasnt whinging about drafting him, I was just pointing out how averse we are to taking midfilelders with our high draft picks.
Whether they rated him highly or not you cant suggest they werent thinking that they needed cover for Paddy.
