The best pointer I can possibly give - we didn’t get Gubby in for nothing. He’s on a 2yr contract for these exact scenarios. It’s the first time we’ve actively done something to get these players. A first time for a lot of things.. which is why I’m so upbeat over the next few years. We’re starting to look like a professional outfit behind the scenes.
Now for M King to deliver what we all know he can. There will be mids lining up just to have the pleasure of kicking to him.
I think Jack Steven might be upset with your assessmentHe's one of our few AFL quality mids and has improved every year. I don't see why you would lose him unless you are getting an upgrade. Giving up Ross and another good player or pick for a good player both might give a slight upgrade but we are better to recruit through the draft and add to the pile. If we get such a good midfield that he's expendable, then we have managed to develop and draft another heap of mids.
Geelong has Parfitt, Ablett, Danger, Selwood, Cockatoo, Kelly, Menagola, Fogarty, Guthrie and Constable. All can play midfield and have shown something or are good to elite. When you put our mids up against theirs we look light weight.
Ross, Steele, Billings and Gresham the only ones likely to make their side and most not as mids, Seb probably the most likely to actually get a midfield game.
My thoughts are we should trade Ross for a 2nd rounder as we have developed two match winning mids in Billings and Gres.I got me a new red cap for the footy.
It has MSKGA on it.
Thoughts?

Lol had to read that twice. Good work.My thoughts are we should trade Ross for a 2nd rounder as we have developed two match winning mids in Billings and Gres.
Trust me. All the other mids are rubbish, they are not even real mids, they are fake mids.
I have the best mids, many people tell me so, many many people.
Anything else is fake. Its fake news. Sad.
God i'm slow!

Im fairly close with the ceo up there. Was speaking with him right in the middle of it all. He said it’s basically between us and them, and Josh had legitimately not made his mind up.
Now fast forward 2 years, could be completely different.. he may very well stay there for his career or go to Hawthorn or sign with us on monster coin.. who knows.
If I can remember right, he didn’t mention Carlton, Hawthorn or Essendon either and they were initially in the hunt. North was the easy one to talk about, given they had publically stated their offer and journos ran with it. Anyway doesn’t matter - he’s at Gws and no one else at this point in timeThat’s funny given the interviews he gave after he signed with GWS, he didn’t mention us once, and instead spoke entirely about how it was either GWS or North Melbourne.
Although to answer your original question - I would do that trade in a heartbeat but I struggle to see why GWS would take it. But I’m guessing that wasn’t the point of your hypothetical.
You did say this when asked what do you hope to get for him1 x second for Ross. Thirds for the other two.
And I'm not being smart either.
Fair enough mate.Hey sorry if the response came across that way. I wasn't implying that.
I don't believe you trade for the sake of it either.
You do however look at all options to improve your list. Some think we have enough talent, I disagree.
Hope to be proven wrong and totally stupid at the end of the year.
Right now apart from a first round pick, and low probability of a quoting a gun FA.
So if we want quality, something has to give.
Anyway, I have few spare trout if you like fish...
Edit: That was a text error on my post. Should have read Do you think, nor Do you think.
Never mentioned trading for picks. Was asked what value I put on each player.Fair enough mate.
If you are talking about bringing in a gun from another club then I agree, anything could be on the table.
If we are talking about just trading players for picks I don't necessarily see the point.
I think that’s the point though Gringo? If Seb is part of a trade that lands us Kelly or Coniglio - would you say no? There are many different scenarios to get there, but he’s part of the solution to strengthen our list, of course you’d do it.
Would you just give him away for nothing? Of course not..
Parker's going nowhere.
He did an interview saying he was happy for the fresh start and was hanging with a bad crowd. Wants to stick it up the neigh sayers and such. We gave the kid his dream life so why would he want to go back ever..
What's your point? You did say this when asked what do you hope to get for him
and a 2nd for Ross is not an upgrade
Average player. Soft as well( there's a reas o n why he's called suitcase). Also an average kickBrandon Ellis is someone I'm surprised we haven't been linked with.
Seems like he's got a need more so than Tomlinson. He's a free agent, very quick, finds plenty of the footy, versatile and can kick a goal.
He might be "average" but I've got little doubt he'd fill a need and be best 22.Average player. Soft as well( there's a reas o n why he's called suitcase). Also an average kick
So did Castagna( maybe not but you get my point)He might be "average" but I've got little doubt he'd fill a need and be best 22.
Played every game in the premiership year.
Don't forget Wilkie in the rookie draft
