Shiel has had an amazing 8 disposals till just before three quarter time against the Swans , glad we didnt throw everything at him to get him to St Kilda like some peeps wanted .

I have no idea whether we can still list someone on the LTI list in the next week or so (Mccartin?) and then be entitled to go in the draft.

Shiel is a very good player that’s it nothing more, he would have made us a better team.

What was really frightening was watching Jones play another ordinary game and having us linked to him, no thanks.

I didn't see the game but Jones is probably still developing, he was good when he was off half back and had a gun midfield. Now he's having to be a big dog himself he's a real mixed bag. Terrible disposal but can get big numbers at times, his foot speed is good but he's kind of like a fast Dunstan. If Stuv goes we need some pace around the midfield and he does address that.

I think Shiel is like a better version of Jones, he's fast and loves going for a run with the ball but he kicks like a drunk donkey. They make stuff happen even if it's a bit chaotic but bursting the ball forward before defensive structures set up is part of modern footy and the more you can do that the more likely you are to score.

Shiel is a very nice player but the thought of us offering him 1.4M is scary. I don’t think he’ll ever be a top 5 player in the comp to justify that sort of money.

Coniglio is & has always been a far superior player to Shiel. Better inside player, better defensively, far more duel sided & hits the scoreboard more often.

Cogs would be the most rounded mid in the comp. He’s not as good inside as Cripps or Fyfe & not as damaging as Danger or Dusty but he’s more rounded than all of them IMO. I would absolutely be happy with the club making him the highest paid player in the league. He’s worth every cent.

I noticed that Shiel had 9 disposals in the last quarter so his total jumped to 17 so that isnt too bad i guess but against a bottom side and the money he is getting i think he should be doing better than that .

It always comes down to price, a first rounder is out of the question for Jones imo.

Yeah, it would be too much. I wonder if we'd do our first pick around 10 to 12 for Jones and their second round pick which I imagine would be around 20 or so. That might be a decent deal for us. We would rather a player we can use now and the draft hasn't been kind to us at the top end.

They were set up early so that they could lose players and keep trading them for high picks. They just keep condensing talent even as they lose it..

You know what you are gonna get. Very reliable, consistent & durable. Doesn’t miss many games. He has a bit of X factor & footy smarts as well. Good mark for his size & knows where the goals are.

You are right about Shiel. He looks nice & flashy but he’s a poor kick. He blazes away & often doesn’t make the distance for goal when on he run. He’s had severe hamstring & back injuries so his kicking penetration isn’t quite there.

Anyone got any ideas about where the Bing acquisition sits on our radar? I'd have thought our future 1st would be a good trading chip this year, but if were waiting for Bing to be OOC and force a trade then it's kind of off limits.
