I've got a legit source (possibly his father, not confirming or denying) that has flat out told me Kelly won't come to the saints next year in a straight trade. He's not worried about money, and he's big on our head coach (Rats), but he doesn't want to leave his mates behind. Namely Coniglio...

which is lucky cos I've got it from another good source (let's call him, 'Leon C') that cogs is in up to his knees in the moorabbin coffee scene. Can't get enough of it apparently. He regards the moorabbin-ethopian single origin as the secret to his success and is tired of having to catch a plane down once a month to load up, so he's coming to the saints hell or highwater!

And GWS totally get it, they don't even want a pick, apparently the only thing they lack up there are a few good citizens and have henceforth requested Paddy McCartin and Jabryn Geary in return...

It's a tough sell but I think we'll pull the trigger cos Lethers fancies himself as a bit of a mover and shaker if ya know what I mean

Kelly is an interesting one.

My mail was if he left he'd come to us.

Then I heard that we were out of the race after last year and Norf was in the box seat.

Now we have total form reversal from both teams. We look a million dollars, Norf looks average.

But he's probably staying put Now.

I would prefer nothing rather than injured players or anything below best 5 on our list types. I just don't see what the point is in more B graders. Not saying Jones is that by the way. He's probably hovering in the edge.

Agree, except Jones is no way better than a B Grade right now, if he’s even that.

If the club happens to believe that Stuv will definitely want out at the end of the year (to get back home in the Geelong area) then it would make a lot of sense to go after Jones.

Even if Stuv doesn't want out it would still make a lot of sense, especially if we don't believe Kelly or Cogs are interested and now that Hopper is off the table.

It would allow us to keep Stuv forward for longer periods where he can be really dangerous and in the meantime hopefully the likes of Gresh, Hunter, Acres and Sincs are continuing to step up in that area.

A future first would be ideal, perhaps with a sweetener.

I reckon the club has finally woken up that simply drafting kids isn't the answer.

Especially if they want finals sooner rather than later.

So chasing Jones makes sense in that context.

We saw how difficult it has been to land a genuine star, so what makes people think.it will get any easier. We'd be contending with at least another 8 clubs.

Therefore it makes sense IMO to bolster your list as much as possible, then any big fish is a bonus.

Either way we can't afford to tread water for another few years and hope.

Even adding a B grader means that a current C grader getting a game gets pushed out to depth.

And as other have stated, apart from Gresh and Billings none of our kids have really proven themselves yet.
