Love it, but he wouldn’t be a FA, therefore no compo pick.If we can get him to leave as a free agent to Geelong and get a whisper from the Afl that we will get compensated after our first pick (9-11) for all the bad luck we’ve had with paddy and robbo retiring in freak circumstances.
They did it with demons with the Frawley pick so how about us

Melbourne to Lorne isn’t Western Sydney to Perth, can’t play football due to health problems then we’ll support you in any way we can as a champion and great servant of the club.As much as it sucks for supporters, Jacks health should be the number 1 priority. If (and its still a big if) he wants to go to Geelong, and there are reasonable circumstances for this (I don't know specifics other than what I was told before Rd 1), then as a supporter I want our club to do the right thing a facilitate and trade. As much as it hurts, he has given us 10+ years service and won 4 B+Fs in some very tough years. Yes he signed a contract, but some things are bigger than football.
Equally, I would hope that Geelong would enter into good faith negotiations and we don't see anything like the McCarthy situation, or the crap teams like WCE or Essendon pull. We should aim to be better than that, and hopefully the Cats are too. Looking back at the last 10 years or so Geelong appear pretty fair in their trade dealings. So I hold out some hope that we can expect some fairly reasonable conversations (particularly given they are firmly in their window).
Working through the hypothetical, I think asking for what they get for Kelly would be a very reasonable place to start the conversation. Whether we get it or not is another thing, but that would be my opening. Both moving on compassionate grounds from clubs that don't want to give them up. Stuv older but more runs on the board. Could be the difference maker for them in September (or at the very least a more than adequate Kelly replacement). As much as I don't want to lose Stuv, I think we could mount a strong case for that level of compo.
They probably counter with their lower first round pick, and at the end of the day we should probably be prepared to settle for that lower first rounder (16-18).
If either team would rather discuss players then picks (which I actually really really think we should), I had a look through their list to see what might appeal. Would discuss any deal that included any of:
Koladjashnij
Henry
Stewart
Constable or
Parfitt
Outside of that there is not much at all that interests me. Cockatoo is a massive no for me. Might as well have kept Freeman if we wanted to go that path.
Of course there is a lot of water to go under the bridge, and the right (or wrong) set of circumstances could see things change dramatically. I just wanted to go through the exercise to see what (with my supporter hat on) we might expect to receive as compensation.
So best case is either what they get for Kelly, or their lower first and one of Steward, Henry or J.Kolo
With my realist hat on, I can live with a late first (considering they will likely have 3 or 4 first rounders across the next two years, and they are in the premiership window, I believe that to be realistic. Hell we gave that for Lovett without blinking)
Anything less than a very late first round pick is probably really testing us (and has moved beyond good faith negotiations). No supporter will be happy with a second (especially given it will basically be an early third in a not so crash hot looking draft). But as much as it sucks I personally still want us to prioritise Stuvs wellbeing over a long messy trade process. We aren't Essendon, and maybe this is just one of those things in life we (as supporters) have to suck up. Some things are bigger than football.
Just my 2 cents

If jack wants to play for Geelong then as a contracted player there is only so much St Kilda can be expected to cop for jacks convenience. I travelled down past lorne most weekends for years to surf as did many of my friends it’s hardly the great trek. My brother who worked office hours managed to surf every weekend and get in a midweek surf most weeks for over 30 years.
We’re not Essendon and neither are Geelong but I must point out that despite Tim Kelly being reportedly in a tough place with his wife and young family they held him to his contract and I’ll be willing to bet they play hardball with WC this trade period.
Personally I think the club should look at jacks mental health and any move to Geelong as seperate only tenuously linked subjects and at the appropriate time jack should be encouraged to view it the same way. I very much doubt St Kilda are jacks problem so expecting us to cop it sweet is just not on. Last time I checked Lorne hadn’t shifted so it’s still a good drive into Geelong everyday if he plays there, way too much being made of this issue imo.
If this trade ever happens then it happens on our terms or jack waits a year and we get free agency compensation.
Lets not jump to conclusions I have not heard Jack or his management even suggest he wants to leave, only spot i have seen it suggested is on here.well said. if the reason really is i need to be closer to home he's not going to come off looking too good. his in the same state and city for crying out loud.
It's common knowledge he was looking to get out last year mate.Lets not jump to conclusions I have not heard Jack or his management even suggest he wants to leave, only spot i have seen it suggested is on here.
I hope Jack gets everything sorted and wins his 5th B&F at the Saints next year
And the footy club seems a much better place to be at this year and a few on here have said he loves the players and club. It's common knowledge he was looking to get out last year mate.
Not just a big footy rumour.

As do I mate. And the footy club seems a much better place to be at this year and a few on here have said he loves the players and club.
I hope we can do everything we can to help him health wise and everything we can to make him a 1 club player
Now we're talking.Beams got 2 first rounders at the same age.
Is Beams that old?Beams got 2 first rounders at the same age.
Want to point out where i said we couldn't do thatAs do I mate.
But the fact is, he was looking to get out last year and he's clearly having his own issues now, so you can't blame some for thinking it's a possibility he might was out.
This being the draft and trade thread, it seems like the best place to discuss what his value is if he does decide he wants out again.
I didn't say you said we couldn't talk about it. You did say people were jumping to conclusions, which I'm not sure is true if you look at what is happening and what has happened.Want to point out where i said we couldn't do that
Pretty sure all i said I haven't heard Steven or his management say he wants out didn't hear either of them say that last year either
Just saying I would prefer to keep him
No idea about Stuv’s situation, but if the rumour I heard last night has any truth to it: I’d expect that the club would play absolute hard ball should he seek to leave.
Best not to even worry about it guys and gals. The footy world will roll on and hopefully the young man in the spot light gets himself and his worries to a happier place.
I'd try Cogs and Taranto this season
Tried telling gringo many times about StephensonSpewing we missed getting any of Grundy, De Goey, Stephenson or Rozee…
But pretty stoked we didn't spend millions on Lycett, what a spud.
