I'm hoping we can lure any free agent this year. We will be struggling to meet the minimum requirement of our salary cap if you look at it realistically. The below figures would be my estimation on how much they would be getting.

Robbo: Unfortunately doesn't look like coming back from the heart condition. Would be on roughly around 650K
McCartin: Another one who doesn't/Shouldn't be playing again due to numerous concussion issues. Recently resigned and would be on around 450K
Longer: The way he is going it looks like he wont be getting another gig next year. 450K
Steven: Only rumour/speculation about him wanting out last year, and his mental health issues this year. Our million dollar man
Armo: Father time has caught up with him. 650K
Brown: 50/50 depending on form. 500K

Yes some of our younger players will be asking probably double in Billings/Gresham, but we are barely meeting the minimum requirement's at the moment hence bringing on Dan on his 800K odd salary. We have got the cash to pretty much go after anyone that is available as that may be a fair junk gone off the books.

I'll throw one out there.

Would you do a straight swap, Gresh for Coniglio?
For what reason ? is Coniglio going to make us much better , i very much doubt it

I think he would personally. I rate him one of the elite midfielders - more importantly, think he suits our game plan.

I would add some pace on the outside to compliment, whether that's through the draft or trade.

Cognilio is a better player but he is also 4 years older than Gresh which makes it harder to compare since Gresh is ahead of where Cogs was at the same age.

But for a list with very few elite players, trading out one elite talent to get in an elite talent isn't improving the list dramatically enough to make a difference.

Exactly. We need to be adding elite players, or even just better players, to the list every year.

I think we did that last year, which explains some of our improvement. Parker, Kent and Wilkie are all better than the players they replaced. Hopefully Hannebery can get back to his form of old, and King can improve our forward line even just slightly.

Just keep improving the list every year and, if we can, add an elite midfielder or two. Then we will be ready to go.

Yeah and you are giving up a young gun to get him . Doesn't make much sense to me
PS , care to tell me what our game plan is and how he suits us , i think any player with class suits us , not sure its anything to do with our game plan

Sell high and get something else thrown into the deal, Caldwell, Bonar and Taranto interest me.

So yes I’d trade Gresham plus a second rounder for Taranto and one of Caldwell or Bonar. I’m not swapping him for Cogs I’m not that keen on him.

Little piece on Biggy from last week. Spoke to a recruiter a little while ago that thinks he’ll make it. Exciting to see how he progresses over the coming months.
#24 Bigoa Nyuon

Stepped up rotating between ruck and forward and you just never know what you are going to get. He can create the unbelievable and then do the unthinkable, which is what makes him quite an entertaining prospect. He was able to hit the scoreboard after picking up a loose ball in attack following good pressure on an opponent, then was able to set up teammates inside 50 for goals as well. He did try and do too much at times like backing himself in from the pocket – which is good to see but he was out of position – rather than handballing into Ned Cahill who was 10 metres closer to goal in space, and then there was a 30m kick straight up in the air when up the other end. However his athleticism and ability to leap above others is without question and there is some serious talent there, it is just piecing it together.

Really all depends on how highly you rate Gresham, his upside and ability to covert that upside vs what we could/ could not get in return.

Biggy will be a biggy as long as we don’t stick him in the two’s for 10 years so he can learn how to defend.

At the same age Gresh would be in front of Cogs bit a tiny bit , we have seen Gresh cut loose against good opposition at the G and kick 6 , Cogs best is 4 and has had 4 years more playing time than Gresh , both are great players , i just dont see that we would gain much by it and really doesnt matter as not going to happen

Bailey Schmidt, midseason draft.

Endurance and ball-getting are ordinary, but decently athletic nonetheless and a handy forward.

Jye Bolton .....easily

Particularly with the situation with Steven gives you a guy that can play now for the rest of year.

Should have been already instead of Rowe.

Can't see Sydney doing that.

I heard the Sydney media blaming Jones for them being shit, he sounds like he's as popular as Clint Jones was for us. Papley was okay last year and has been good this year especially last weekend. I think it's a pretty good deal for a rebuilding side if both players want to go back to Melbourne anyway, neither are a first round pick on their own IMO. We would probably have to send them something else too though.

Would you do a straight swap, Gresh for Coniglio?

No way, he's the first decent player we have drafted in years. Nearly guarantee that Cogs would do a knee and Gresh would win the Brownlow the next year as well.

FB: McKenzie - Clavarino - Wilkie
HB: Battle - Austin - Paton
RK: Marshall - Steele - Gresham
CR: Sinclair - Acres - Billings
HF: Long - King - Parker
FF: Membrey - Nyuon* - Lonie
IC: Clark Hind Coffield Bytel

At least it’s athletic...

Was only dealing with the ruck situation.

No. Still too much upside to Gresh. Coniglio can be tagged out of games too easily, and in the current Saints outfit someone would go to him every week.

We need a Tim Kelly. Someone who can really impact a game. Went head to head with Shiel on the weekend and showed he is upper echelon elite. He is certainly good enough to push an ageing Ablett into a forward role.

I see Marlion Pickett was a deadline day nomination for the mid season draft. Has our WA mature age experience with Parker changed our attitude to Marlion?

I think Coniglio would struggle being the big dick mid instead of being able to roam around at will. Probably end up no better off.

I would def look at the state leagues

What's the chances they would have front loaded Hanners contract this year and next to keep tpp space open 2020+. Considering we were struggling to make the minimum spend. That would make sense.

And god knows Roma could do with some decent back up , those other Two are not going to cut it im afraid , time to move them on
