Yes, of course Trout went to recruiters university, I forgot. I thought he was the boot studier under Ross Lyon and we kept finding him things to do after we hired professional cleaners.

It’s undeniable that they have better intel and have watched a lot more of these kids than most people outside of the game ever could.

They also have hours of tape plus testing data from draft camps, institutes etc. What isn’t clear is how the hell they ended up in these jobs or what if any qualifications or special skills they have that elevates them above your average track watcher.

It’s also telling how close the Emma Quayle’s of the world have been with their mock drafts, it isn’t exactly a secret how these kids have played in the previous year or two.

I tell you what would be nicer - having our own version lift his game and play somewhere near his capabilities on a more consistent basis.

Having said that, both Mitch Clark and Buddy “lost their way” en route to the clubs they were supposed to be going to, so it’s not unheard of I suppose.

And Tippett had to get to GC because he was so traumatised by Adelaide. Somehow ended up in Sydney.

He played a couple of excellent VFL games last year and it didn't save him. Hope he goes well anyway. Seems like a good guy.

very rarely does that happen. players almost always re-sign for much less than market rate. its just how it works.

couldn't agree more. 700k would be a nice fit IMO. that's with some growth in his game factored in.

hell set it at 700k then give him 200k in a bonus if he meets the very elite standards we would expect of a 900k player.

Except he's not being played as a midfielder/Forward... he's being played as a tall forward/ruck. Josh Dunkley stat's are similar when he's forced to play as a forward too.

Depends where our first pick falls. Inside the top 10, no, unless something good comes with it. Outside top 10 then mayb but they would still have to sweeten the deal as well.

Saints 11
Dunkley and 25 for 11? I’d probably do that deal

Using last year as a guide would look like:
Dunkley and Rowbottom for Caldwell.

Unless is all goes downhill for Langlands for the rest of the year I think ATM they will give him another year.

Struggled last year after glandular fever, has starting midfield at Sandy this year until his concussion and was getting a bit of the ball.

Should get another look.

Cats will give him what he wants and what his wife wants even if it means bringing over his family ( Mother , brothers ) to Geelong and setting them up.

Money talks. For all we know his family may be settling down. If any club deserves to be poached it’s Geelong, they’ve been doing it for ages.

Fire in a bid and see if we get a nibble.

If you look at him closely he cannot kick. His stats look good when played midfield but seriously his kicking is shocking if we paid a first for him I’d be livid he is not worth that.

Yeah there has always been a very big knock on Dunkley's kicking (the apple didn't fall far from the tree there!) and it's probably a big part of the reason Sydney passed on him when they could have gotten him at a discount.

He's probably an upgrade on Dunstan, but a potential top 10 pick and $700K PA is all sorts of too much, imo.

I guess it depends on the trade period but without bringing in a ruckman surely longer gets another year.

Yeah I'd consider something like that, but it would depend on the strength of the draft and whether there are types we really like and who really suit our needs around the picks we either have, or would end up with.

I must be missing something because I can’t see any scenario where we’d trade a first for Dunkley and a second.

He’s a decent player with some serious flaws in his game so it’s a big no from me. I watched the Australian academy team take on Casey, there is some serious talent is this draft based on that alone.

Is Billings really almost worth a million dollars less?

Don’t think so personally. He is a link up player, can rack up big numbers if we are on top.. he’s good, but not consistent enough and does not impact the game enough.. Is he a forward? is he a wingman? a half forward that help out in midfield/backline?
