Paddy’s probably in good coin as well. God knows how we get to 95% next year. Some overpaid players will be on our list.
Looking at how much we will have in our cap, it makes the amount Gresh signed for baffling.
He could have easily held out for 800k-900k a season like Billings is.

He will likely get a portion of that. I heard some bloke on sen (from memory a player manager) explain how players contracts are paid out through early retirement. Whatever is left, also give to Cogs.
Cogs will be getting about 3 mil next year with the amount we have left in our cap.

Roberton is on a decent sized contact as well.
From memory, it was around 650-700k a season
I thought it was around the $650 as well
Robbo $650 Unlikely to play again
Paddy $350 Unlikely to play again
Steven $800 + Hopefully stays
Armo $500 + His last year

Will have a lot of money to spend

Yes but don't think it goes into the cap

I’m sure it’s already been posted, but I have us cutting 6 players at seasons end without a slice of ruthlessness.

McCartin
Armo
Robo (hopefully not)
Longer
Pierce
Rice

I assume we pick up Marsh and Mayo going forward, leaving 4 spots.

How long did we sign Rowe for?

I don't think all my arguments are closed. Only the obvious ones. Firstly we know you cant have rucks coming off and on the bench and if Marshall is going well why would we want him to play only 50% anyway. Also goldy may not be a teacher. Its not like Pruess is killing it at the dees who have decided that playing 2 rucks hasnt worked. And of course you look at everything but you you reject the bad moves. IMO this is clearly a bad move that has no positives. Cant actually tink of one. I beleive only Port and sometimes WCE play 2 genuine first rucks. We need another ruck but he should be back up. Or just keep Longer.
To counter your reply, you don't think your arguments are closed only the one's you think are obvious. Maybe you should be the next Clarko being so positive in your observations. You could be right but, you also say that teams, in this case Melbourne who are structurally and performance wise terrible this year, are not playing two rucks....except last years premier and Port who will be playing finals and destroyed us.
I still believe that we need to recruit these guys to build our club. Longer and Pierce offer nothing.
Why not play both rucks and change forward or on interchange. Do something different. Doing what everyone else does will not get us anywhere. Be the club of change and difference, that's how Clarko etc made their sides great. The only issue I see of them changing forward is that we have now, so many forwards and what that new structure would be given that you don't want to be top heavy.
I see;
Lonnie King Ruck
Membrey Bruce Kent/Long/Parker

Long thread this and so olny looked back half a dozen pages.

Acres, where is he at?

Seems a tad unlucky with injury and gets played as a half forward more than mid.

Think he is out of contract, would a mid to late 2nd rounder satisfy the Saints in a trade if he asked to move?

Sorry we already sold him to Freo for Langdon.

So you want 4 marking players and 2 others. Not sure that works at all. Doing something different is fine but the game is heading the other way than 4 marking players. The problem I see is getting goldy has no upside apart from 5 minutes a quarter. For 25 minutes it has downside

Roberton (ret)
Longer
Armitage
McCartin (ret)
Rice
Joyce
Pierce
Rowe

These would be my choices. Love us to keep Marsh and Mayo (obviously).

Langlands might get a cheeky extension but he'll be feeling the pinch. White unsigned too which concerns me.

Marsh and Mayo save us any need to replace Roberton and McCartin.

Pinching a back up ruckman in the trade period to cover for Longer and Pierce would be good. Could we do what Hawks did with Scully and get Patton for chips?

I hear people say this quite often. I’d be keen to see the data to back it up. Not saying you are definitely wrong but I think this is quite overplayed.

Btw North have won three on the trot since it was announced Scott was gone.

I’ll watch the Blues next match with interest. I have a strong feeling they have drastically underperformed & will finish the season off well.
Apparently: 25 games this century.
11 wins, 14 losses.
40% strike rate.
It doesn’t pay to back the team that just sacked the coach.

Shame Gringo. Shame.
Where’s your English teacher from Year 7?

Each year new words are added to the Oxford dictionary. Recent additions include mansplain & hangry. Ceilinged must also be a recent addition because it’s the first time I’ve heard of it. It’s a legitimate word.

If sackinged coaches are running at 25% prior to being sacked then the probability of the team goes up to 40% upon the sackinged. Not a lot in it!

My mum was an English teacher.

Anyway, I'm just an expressive creative type, I don't follow convention, I'm scatting riffs at you. If you're too uptight to dig my free range phrase work that's your issue, square. It's something only the kids would understand. ;)

His mate in the real estate game might have invented it. "High ceilinged victorian charm at it's finest" means the plaster work is ****ed but hopefully you think it's quaint as it falls on you.

Ceilinged is a perfectly kromulant word.
