One thing that is curious with the Cutler is situation is why we haven’t played him off half back given our need for run from the backline. Maybe Cutler refused or maybe the club wanted to give him a chance to develop on the wing.
it didn't look like we were trying to run it out , it looked like we wanted to play territory footy by kicking it long to the boundary.
I reckon that's why Taylor wasn't picked as well.
Hope that was a short term plan .

I think if we do wind up with Elliot it signals a change of role for each of McCarthy, Rayner and Christensen. Elliot is a little like Cameron in that he plays his best when there's space around him.

If we're intending to play Cameron and Elliot in the same team, it forces every other small forward further up the ground.

I'm confident Linc can play further up the ground assuming he has another full pre-season. When he was fresh he was able to play a role in the middle/on a wing on a rotational basis, particularly against GWS in the home and away season.

Love this for us. The club needs more tatts.

In all seriousness though, shows just how much the club has confidence in their medical department that they'd be able to keep him on the park. Can only be a positive.

If Elliott is smart, he’ll give serious consideration to us. Our medical staff and the warmer weather could be the formula for overcoming his injury issues.

You'd imagine Elliot comes in the front 6 look like this:
Elliot, Hipwood, Cameron
McCarthy, McStay, Zorko/Rayner

CEY, Elliot, Birchall are all FA as well so only cost $$$. Maybe why we are letting go some players who are around the mark but maybe it took overs to get them here or keep. Smart list management you would say. I’m not saying I’m in with those 3 but smart by the club. Look to move up in the draft as well and who knows what our list might look like at the end of all this. Go Lions!!!

I hope not. He showed his value late in the season, deserves a year at least maybe 2. The work he has done off the field, helping with the neafl when injured, the work he has done with the indigenous youth and community has been terrific. Valuable club man and deffinate best 22 at his best.

It may be that we keep him and loose a player that can play the role that is 5 years younger and the club is choosing the younger option.

LIONS WANT TO DANCE WITH BILLY ELLIOTT
AFL.com.au's Mitch Cleary has reported that Brisbane has emerged as a smokey in the race for Collingwood free agent Jamie Elliott. After finishing second in the home and away season in 2019, the Lions are looking for more firepower to assist their rise for next year. The Lions have joined Melbourne and Hawthorn in the pursuit of Elliott.

In a heartbeat please.

I can't help but feel, Elliot is quite similar in playstyle to McCarthy. Anyone else get the same impression? High flyers who are not tall enough to be a KPP, but not short enough to be a genuine small forward.

McCarthy will play more midfield next year.
