Genuinely surprised if the Pies are legitimately low balling Grundie and Elliot.

I don't think they are low-balling Grundy - its been reported as a length of extension issue more than anything. But with De Goey, Grundy and Moore all out of contract at the end of next year its not surprising Elliot could fall out given that they must be tight to the cap already.

Not convinced Rayner will spend significant time in the midfield, has a long way to go to build the needed fitness base.

If Cam gets his diet under control in the off season and does some work before pre-season starts, (which he is) his fitness will be significantly better and I believe will allow him to play more midfield time in season 2020. He's gotta come back at the start of 2020 in reasonably good shape. Exciting prospect to see him creating havoc in the midfield next season.:thumbsu:;)

In many ways that beams contract may end up costing Collingwood a player or two.

As much as I enjoyed Linc's year, I don't know that he finished the year so well that he's a lock for round 1 next year. All things being equal, I personally believe he should be selected but his form really tailed off late - only 1 goal in his last 7 games and only one game with 20 touches or more in the same period. Further to that, Rayner also shouldn't be considered a lock for next year until he shows he's built some consistency in his game. Again, I really hope that he does secure his spot.

I guess I just think it is premature to be thinking that either of those guys will definitely be there round 1, particularly if we bring in new talent like Elliott, Ah Chee, Ellis-Yolmen etc. The whole idea is to increase pressure for spots. IMO, our forward line locks are Cameron, Hipwood and McStay, in that order. The other four roles in the rotation are up in the air IMO.

Jamie Elliott would be a fantastic get for us if we get it over the line, he has some serious weapons which **** would capitalize on and I'm also warming to the idea of Josh Jenkins for a couple of years, Jenkins would take Big O's place in the side and would be a serviceable 15-20% ruckman giving Stef a chop out and be far more serviceable up front than the O.

Daniel McStay, Eric Hipwood, Charlie Cameron.
Jamie Elliott, Josh Jenkins, Linc McCarthy/Cam Rayner/Allen Christensen. + Dayne Zorko spending more time resting forward is a hell of a dangerous forward line.

We are in our window, all for getting players in for even only a couple of years ie. Jenkins to tip us over the edge. Play the Big O in the NEAFL all season as the primary ruck to build his fitness base to take over from Stef full time in 2021.

This hurts to say but if we managed to snag Elliot I wouldn’t be against Jenkins as a stay at home forward. Elliot/Cameron/McStay/Hipwood all lead up forwards (McStay 50/50).

I don't know about this. Elliott is the stay at home play out of the goal square forward, just a miniature version. Does his best work in the goal square leading out into space. Also think Charlie, and Big can play the stay at home forward in their own way as well.

i'd also like to see Rayner given a chance to go one on one in the goal square this year more as well, given his power and strength ala Dusty.

Linc blew up and ran out of puff...first full season ever I think and 24 consecutive games to boot...

Personally, I think they're a lock for round 1 but are by no means safe. It'll come down to a few things such as Cox' progression, Colemans pre season, where Ah Chee plays etc. I just can't see Rayner and McCarthy not starting round 1 assuming they both have good pre seasons.

I thought we would have heard of Cam Ellis-Yolmen signing with us by now.
Paperwork has just been lodged for ‘an’ Ellis.

We off all teams should know how dangerous a fleet of small forwards can be. He is a lead up small / medium, we don't have anyone like him on the list (Bundy being the closest). I think it's the answer they are looking at to the (perceived) forward line problem. Instead of getting another tall, get a small medium, stay at home, who can play tall. Makes sense.

I wouldn't want him on big money, but if he is free and on about $400-500kk over 3-4 i'd be keen as mustard.

Can't see him coming up here for 500k...surely others offering more!

Well if he's like most of the players these days he's looking for security, i.e. 4yrs at reasonable money vs 3

I dont think he is gone, outside bundy and elliot we dont have any real depth in the sm fwd area. A great move to strengthen this position. Letting bundy go and getting elliot just feels like an even stevens move, neither improving or weakening the list. Having both gives us depth and versatility.
We’ll possibly have depth, they’ll just be first year draftees, in Keidean Coleman and Noah Cumberland.

He made an enormous improvement in his fitness in the 2nd half of the year. Hopefully he comes back to preseason in good shape and has a big preseason improving his running capacity.

Yes he did, and hopefully he does. But midfield fitness is a whole new level.

Why are people writing off Christensen? Thought he was one of our best players in the second half of the year? Took his chances, had his pace and X factor back, tackled ferociously...really really odd.
He also plays absolutely nothing like Elliot (in fact no one on our list plays like him) so yeah, really weird comments.

hope this goes through.
In my opinion, would rather risk not getting a big like jenkins and back in McSpray to finally kick straight.

we would have the most dynamic forward line in the league, absolute nightmares for defenders.

the only weakness would be the lack of a dependable pack mark (again, back in McSpray and Hippy to clunk a few more).

all of those guys would be devastating playing isolated one out, particular the obvious Charlie and Elliot.

should be another cracking trade period! :)
