At least linc was still relatively young. If we give Birchall a year deal and he plays 2 games that is a wasted list spot, with him unlikely to play on much longer given his age and injury history.

Birchall was a very good half back (albeit in a team that perfectly suited his style of play) but has never been overly quick or physical. I'd rather keep Lester on the list and give others like Cox, Starcevich, Madden (although I have no idea how his season went), potentially Ah Chee a chance.

True, we don't need to go backwards to go forwards anymore. Perhaps Fagan's doing old mate a favour, to making sure GC make him a decent offer?

I wonder if part of the reason for a lack of trades so far is clubs are waiting to hear the decision from the AFL (hopefully Friday) about whether there will be another trade period before round 1 2020?

Bastinac is not main list and Nobel has already inferred Skinner has a contract coming so cross those two off your list.

Oh good news re skinner, wasnt aware of that. Basti going, even off the rookie list, still can open up a spot on the main list if a main listed player is then moved to the rookie list. We've manipulated this before to open up a list spot. I kind of meant that, should have made it clearer.

Has anyone got any insight into why recruiters (all clubs) overlooked Tim Kelly in 5 drafts - what was the knock on him over the years?

I asked Knightmare and there wasn't much interest until he started carving up the WAFL.

IMO recruiters may have overlooked due to his maturity and commitment levels. Once he had a kid I think he grew up fast.

I think acres name came up in discussions as a conduit to assist in the hill trade with freo. A wa boy, that could be interested in going home. I think that was the gist of it.

Acres has been talked about as a trade candidate for the last 2-3 trade periods. I don't see the appeal tbh
