Melbourne had no trouble dealing for Langdon.
Hill went to WA for personal reasons. If I'm Freo whyy can't he stay for another year or two or were his personal reasons just made up.Clearly Hawthorn were screwed for being considerate.
Because Melb were happy to pay over the odds for Langdon and Hawthorn played fair but in a very different trading environment. You favour Bell's approach, that's fine. I don't.

Sorry to interject but I'm pretty sure his partner is from Melbourne and went over to Perth with him and now she wants to return to Victoria.

Bellend is embarrassing. Hills agent connors has 17 freo players on his books I heard can’t imagine he would want to be suggesting other clients join Fremantle . Half reason Kelly didn’t consider Fremantle is probably shown by the way freo do their business . Bell is the clear case of someone who suffers little man syndrome .

Rory laird would be a handy pickup. Maybe trade out next years first and say pick 16 and 21 for laird and pick 4 and a late 3rd rounder possibly to add points for academy players.

I think a great trade for us would be Robertson, Cutler, Taylor and pick 16 to the Demons for pick 3 WIN WIN. We could throw in Basti and Walker as the classic set of steak knives if needed.

The reported ask for Hill was simply ridiculous. Bell seems like the kind of guy who operates as "I will screw anyone I can and I don't care what people think of me". Which is fine, except that it's a small world, and there are only 17 other clubs in the entire world you can do deal with. There have been times I thought that Noble was a little too reasonable, but you can't deny that he'll have relationships with other clubs, and when opportunities come up for a pick swap or the like, people won't mind chatting with Nobes and seeing if something works. I can't imagine anyone really wanting to go to Bell with a win-win.

The problem is Bell's negotiating technique, not his view of Hill's value.

Yep, Bell obviously went to the same "Trade School" as Dodoro...Both play very similar tactical moves in attempting to stop opposition lists getting better than theirs...Noble showed last year with dealings with Bell he was prepared to pay overs but would do other deals 1st...Lethlean and Gallagher have their work cut out for them in getting the players linked to the Saints. they don't have the draft picks this year 12, 18, 76 & 82 and next years picks will be weakened.

Swans are on record as saying pick 4 is on the table...And they have an interest in Taylor just a matter of the right package.

The thing with contracted players.. A lot of heavily front loaded contracts then on the lower years they amazingly need to go home for family reasons.
You do wonder how many of those reasons are they went from 800k to 300k for the last 2 years.
So a new contract of $500k is more money.

Although to balance lists that is what clubs have to do front load. Although you do notice people seem more to want to switch on the last couple of years of a contact.
