Would do this is a heartbeat but surely Melbourne aren’t that dumb. He’s an absolute gun and I’d think they’d want early first rounders to even considerX

I agree mate, certainly don’t think Melbourne would let him go. I said that a couple of weeks ago myself. Just throwing it out there as I was interested to see how Lions fans rated him and it got me a little excited that there may be a couple of disgruntled Dees players. It’s interesting that opinions have ranged from ‘do it in a heartbeat’ to ‘insane’. Seems like a polarising figure.

Yes, ball use is a problem but as I said I think we have the staff in place now that could help with that, Fagan would know how to utilize his weapons to best affect as well.
Is he getting much playing time at Melbourne, in a team crying out for outside players?

Perhaps we could throw in Harris Andrews to sweeten it. There is no way I’d give up that much for Oliver. Two first rounders and a solid 100 game player. Insane.
I think you need to break down the potential trade further to realise the true “cost”.

Oliver is easily worth two top 10 draft picks.

We won’t have that currency any time soon, footy gods willing.

Seriously, the best draft pick we could hope to get for Lewy Taylor is a mid second round pick. Tom Cutler more like a late second round pick.

Neither player is best 22. One likely to request a trade as he’s on the outer.

Apparently 5AA mentioned Hugh Greenwood wants to come to Brisbane because of his relationship with Noble? “Over the line” were the words used.

If we thought Taylor was solid we probably wouldn't consider a trade would we?

Wonder who he would actually replace in our current best 22?

Personally, I would only view Greenwood as depth. Depends if the price is right I suppose.

Ok then. New plan.
Cutler for Oliver straight swap it is!
(And I still want their future 3rd) [emoji6]

Time for us to get you involved trade week with the clubs. That’s next level skill, maybe instead of the 3rd rounder get us Gawn and we’ll throw in Walker/Taylor

Hawks were chasing him too...

greenwood would only be 28 next year. Happy to take him

I think he would be a good, mature bodied depth player we can get as a free agent. His skills might not be silky but we often play a helter-skelter style where we capitalise on unpredictable, fast surge football. It works for Mitch and he might offer a point of difference.

Sometimes I think we judge players value to us looking at our full list, without accounting for an incredibly good run with injuries. Another strong bodied mid/forward and he's another Tasmanian to add to our roster!

Also on his development he would not be an outlier for going backwards in his development at the crows this year. :rooster:

For the price that he’ll cost we are probably better off targeting someone else. We don’t want to end up like Collingwood.
Clayton Oliver has only just turned 22 so still a few years off his prime years and with 10 years left in the system, he's a top 3-4 inside mid in the competition already. IMO he will be just as good as Lachie Neale eventually and you have to pay a high price for players like that.

Good player when he's on Greenwood but he drifts in and out of games too much. If he could be a consistent 4 quarter player he'd be a great addition.
