I'd love Greenwood. Rate him very highly and also wouldn't cost us too much.

You've probably seen more of him than I have - what is it that you rate about his game?

He's pretty dangerous up forward. Good contested mark. Big body who is quite hard at it too - a little bit of Mitch Robinson about his attack at the contest. He played very well against us on what I think was his debut game which sticks in my memory quite a bit.

I also love his age profile. If we're going to spend the next few years aiming for top four and challenging for flags, bringing in players over 25/26 is pretty smart.

I don't think Jarryd Lyons or Lincoln McCarthy would've sparked much excitement on this board this time last year, but both have gone on to be pivotal parts of what we're building (and I daresay both would command more than Greenwood at the moment on the open market). I back the people who made those decisions in on Greenwood if they think he's a valuable asset.

Bit of him here:

3 years seems a bit much for him. good midfielder but in and out of adelaide team.

would be an upgrade on mathieson but still probably edge of 22

Imagine Mitch on one wing and Greenwood on the other...

I think Greenwood could be a really good pickup. Could have a similar impact to Lyons, there’s a few similarities there.

Stuck behind the crouch brothers and Sloane like Lyons was,his contested work is good and pressure around the ball is top notch, can take a decent grab too. Obviously has a few limitations, with his disposal being questionable and not the biggest accumulator either.

During the season most of my Melbourne friends have been saying that Brayshaw was the one on the outer. More to do with him being pushed into a different role due to their glut of inside mids. It hasn't suited the game style this year to have so many inside players and he was seen as the most losable to the club

100% agree - at this stage I will back our team in 100% - they're on fire.

I remember that debut - he kicked 3 or 4 right?

If he's depth who can play Robbos role when he retires, I'll definitely take that. And the highlights!

Adelaide fan said the following about Greenwood:

"He does some really high level stuff, he just can't run.

He's basically Bont, but can't run and shit kick.

Ground ball gets - elite
Tackling - elite
Contested marking - elite
Handball - elite

I've thought for a couple years now, if he could just get a really good pre-season in, he'd be a gun.

He can be a dangerous forward.

Only reason he got dropped, is because the defensive running has been putrid from the team, and I guess he's the worst at it."

Interesting to look at this through Fagan's philosophy of looking at what players can do and maximising that rather than worrying about what they can't do. Might apply well to Greenwood.

I'm sure as he's from Hobart Fages and Noble will know all about his background, most of his families history, his mums favorite colour, where his dad and all his uncles played and for who etc etc etc.

Robbo would have superior fitness which allows him to play wing.
I would see him playing a mix of forward pocket/half forward and some midfield. His overhead marking makes him a threat up forward.

Not sure on the age front that we want a guy who will be 28 before the start of next season and while I like him as a player I don’t see a massive upside to him.

Greenwood always seems to do well against us at the Gabba. Would not say no to him.
Another rotation can mark and kick goals.

6 weeks ago I thought we needed a winger, HB and someone with speed.
Robbo taken it on the wing role, Answerth HB which leaves someone with speed. Walters or Hill type.

Although do we trade or wait for the NEAFL guys.
Speed we have Cox (interrupted 2019) and hopefully Coleman.
More mid depth.. have Berry Jnr, Lyons Jnr, Matho, Keays, E Smith and Joyce. Add Wooler and McFadyen.
Ruck Martin another year and Big O there. Do we need another or just hope Archie comes along and maybe Fullarton/Ballenden backup?

Then depth players. Payne, Skinner, Walker, Alison, Starc, Taylor,Cutler and Basti. Do we look at upgrading one of these with someone different or keep.
Be a interesting trade period.

Seems a bit of a cross between Matho and Robbo and may only outlast the latter by a year or two. We are getting ourselves into a situation where we have quality players in every position and quite a bit of talent coming through. I'm not sure adding C and even B grade footballers is a priority, considering new additions are often given more than a fair crack at best 22.

Greenwood has always played very well against us.

But geez he’s a shocking kick.

If anyone thought Dan McStay’s sprays were bad, he’s a veritable dead eye d!ck compared to Greenwood.

The one thing Greenwood has going for him, is his body isn’t as beat up, coming from basketball.

A lot would depend on where the Pies first rounder ends up, could be anywhere from pick 18 to 11, then we back ourselves to go really well next year and only be handing over a high teens pick. If we got Oliver our elite inside mid brigade would be set for the next 5 years.

I also think the Demons could be keen on Tom Cutler.

Collingwood’s first and Cuts for Oliver?

We all know Dylan thinks Cutler is the best player in the competition, he'd probably demand that the draft picks be going the other way.

I have a feeling Dylan may have said a few things around here tongue in cheek for a a bit of fun.

I've always liked Hugh Greenwood's game. Would add a lot as a player in that 18-28 range on our depth chart. On the fringes of best 22 but one of our best depth options and with how well Fagan and his staff have developed players aged mid 20's+ e.g. Rich, Robinson, Lyons, McCarthy ect. and Fagan focused on utilising player's strength's(In which Greenwood has some terrific one's) he could blossom into a real handy player for us. If he doesn't cost much, and he shouldn't considering he's 27, OOC and currently out of the Crows side, he'd be a solid addition.
