I think we have our own Petracca....one young bull is enough I think.

Petracca right now, is akin to a worst case Rayner scenario in 3-4 years.

Forget Petracca.

Keep and develop Rayner. More upside than Petracca anyway.

Hey guys I come in peace.

Just wondering on Lewis Taylor's status? Is he close to re-signing or will he head home back to Melbourne?

On a side note congratulations and good luck in September lions! I will be barracking hard for you blokes!
Lewy close to best 22. Apparently wants to stay & playing good footy in the ressies. 50/50 on re-signing my guess.

There has been a lot of talk about the shape Rayner came back in at start of season , well him and witherdon were on a fox footy show last night and he openly grinned about enjoying his off season way too much . Pretty disappointing when he would know how limited a tank he has and how he needs to develop it . Hopefully the penny has now dropped and he realises if he is ever gonna make it at this level his nutrition is a key component.

Witho himself came back a little wider after his first off-season. Would hazard a guess it's relatively common.

It's pretty clear the penny has dropped

And Conole stood up for him on the road to the draft podcast saying that first year players don't always full understand how to utilise the first off season and often require a good break after their first full season. Especially Cam after playing 22 games.

Also let’s not forget these 1st & 2nd & 3rd year players are kids who have sacrificed so much just to get there while their mates are out drinking & socializing and just being young adults. Let them have some fun people in their own time. Dane Swan, Heath Shaw, Wayne Carey and dare I say it Luke Hodge have had their ups and downs and lessons learnt over the years but they came out with a medal or 2 around their neck.

Yes yes yes! These guys are not emotionless robots.

The Sainters could use help everywhere. With King back next year and talk of them getting a second ruck to help Marshall is there any chance of a Membrey, Battle, Bruce type getting squeezed out? Any realistic targets there that would suit?

I don't think we need or would want any of those 3, Bruce and Membrey are handy players but they or Battle would not be an upgrade on our current KPFs ie. Hipwood, McStay and McInerney.

Battle is a gun on premiership coach 2015.

There were suggestions on the previous page that we needed another mature KPF for depth, if only for a season or two until Ballenden matures a bit more. I'd rather have Jenkins for that role though, he might come cheaper than Bruce and will certainly be cheaper than Membrey.

In hindsight, I'm stupid and completely forgot to take utility players into account when I made my post. With Josh Walker and Marcus Adams both being able to play that role if need be and Oscar practically already playing as Key Forward, it definitely alleviates any real concern that I had at first glance.

Cheaper indeed.....Jenkins just dropped again tonight............no thanks.....happy with our lot.....to a degree... but would happily invite a gun such as Cale Hooker. See Bulldogs will make a play for Magpie Moore .......in footy speak I think that means Moore will stay a magpie but for many more $$$$$$$$$$

I kinda think as a number 1 draft pick, by end of season a healthy bank account, a heap of money guaranteed coming over the next few years it was inevitable a young lad would go celebrate. I like him more he recognised he came back out of shape. I'm glad he got it out of his system and have great hope next year is when we see him for what he will be, not the snippets we see now which can be very exciting.

It could be a strange year at the trade table, Carlton, north and St Kilda would have all had some players disgruntled but that is kinda solved with new coaches. The Dockers and Port might have a few players looking for opportunities but both situations might also settle themselves. The Crows absolutely need to roll over some older players, gold Coast need to find at least one elite midfielder and could have a top draft pick to get them. Richmond had a bit of a clean our of the players banging their heads on senior selection but can't see them loosing anyone. The Eagles want to be in the race for Kelly but seem to have bugger all to trade unless they drop a player foremother round 1 pick. The Pies need key position players that are reliable while their premiership window is open so I'll guess the Pies look at the Crows. The Crows will look to the Gold Coast and their South Australian youth to bring home. The Gold Coast will look to GWS using their top draft pick to try to encourage an elite which might hold the Suns youth. It's going to be some fun and I'll guess one of those big trade like Lacie Neale last year involving several clubs. The Lions have again said we are after a running back and/or a hybrid mid fielder and our trick will be to slide one out of another club while they are all working on a mega trade. I really get the feeling after McArthy and Adams and an almost non existent injury list we won't be short on players who haven't had a good run with injuries offering themselves up to us.

Wouldn't begrudge him leaving but there are plenty of rucks not getting games who would be competent at AFL level.

Still boggles my mind that Preuss, disappointed with a lack of opportunities behind Goldstein, went to Melbourne who had one of the top two rucks in the competition and who is significantly younger than Goldy.

They say opportunity but I'd suspect hes getting paid more on the sidelines at Melbourne than he was at North.

Still a silly call.

No doubt but given the form he'd shown stepping in for Goldy I'm also surprised they couldn't rustle up more cash from a club who actually needed a ruck.

Was a strange move and an interesting thread on the draft and trading board
