Surely our team is now much more attractive and we should be gunning for a gun free agent? If a team like Carlton can nab endless supply of cheap free elite players surely we must be in discussions now too. Understand the whole Bris v Melb thing.

Who are these elite players Carlton are nabbing?

Incredibly unlikely, but would crack up if Coniglio came out and said he wanted to head to Brisbane. Melt downs galore, particularly from the Hawks supporters who literally every single high profile player potentially moving is linked to.

People (including me) said the exact same thing about Mitch Robinson and Dustin Martin, but look at them now. People change over time with a new start or club. You can't judge a book by it's cover.
Seem to recall a few said the same about Cam. Listening to him on the latest Roar Deal he is an articulate and level headed young man.

Will be difficult for him to ignore the 10 year 15 million dollar deal from Norf

We're clearly in the market for another class player in the trade period as we should be cutting 3 or 4 players on reasonable money from our list plus Hodge potentially retiring , and the sell has become a whole lot easier over the last few months.

Coniglio would be awesome ,I've had that in my dreams. We're in a position to target the best available player, as long as it all fits into the club culture. Plus you never know who might fall through the cracks at season's end when players and clubs start looking to the future.

The great thing about our list at the moment is that we don't need him. There's still more natural progression off our younger guys like Rayner, Berry, McCluggage, etc that can take us to another level. Only need at the moment is a fast attacking running half back.

Yeah we’ll lose a couple of blokes we don’t want to but at least this time we have a decent team and some sustainable success by the looks,a far cry from when we were shite and what hope we had walked out the door

Game day ...cant sleep...just listened to Foxfooty pod cast....chatting about Steven's possible trade to Geelong. They said on good authority Charlie Constable is not happy with his lack of senior opportunities.

Thinking Lewy , a Geelong boy, might be in the same boat so a possible swap plus some steak knives for Geelong could be a good deal for both parties.

If Kelly goes to freeo this could all change.

Constable would be a great get and should be a priority, but he's a Vic Metro boy. I suspect he wants to stay in Melbourne and Malthouse is his uncle (only highlighting he has strong family ties that ties him to Melbourne). Taylor I feel needs a fresh start.

If we miss out on Constable I would be asking for Sam Menegola or Nakia Cockatoo. Menegola is a interesting one because if Geelong gets Stevens, Menegola is going to be on the outer. Will be 28 next year (also out of contract), but has been averaging 24 disposals and a goal a game when playing a whole season. We could get him for cheap as he has been injured since round 7. Could be a good back up option if we struggle to attract a elite midfielder and certainly one to keep an eye out for the rest of the season.

Not sure about Menegola getting a game but Cocky could be enticed by our medical staff...good get with pace n xfactor.

The likes of Lewy Bundy Walker Cutler Keays Robber etc have shown they have the nous for Afl level football. The question is are they prepared to work even harder and try and crack into a top four list on less coin than they were previously used to or do they move teams to a list further down on the rebuild for more coin. Great lists the players all take paycuts so they can keep the group together. Moving clubs isn't always a panacea. Just look at Gibbs and Beams this year. Lions are a family club because everyone is interstate. Players at big Melbourne clubs aren't tight like this as they all have preexisting friend groups so the transition might be harder. Also the extra money opportunities for sponsorship and media work only go to the top few players in Melbourne. Rocky is another example. Spent the best part of two years getting into Port Adelaide s style. If he was still here he would be more celebrated and would be playing finals

isn't it the case St Kilda have a lot of money after underpaying on their salary cap for a few year but don't have trade 'bait' to get the players in. Stevens who a year ago had similar stats to Neale, may or may not, still be capable of driving the same sort of numbers. Yes Geelong is his home and for those reasons you can see a trade but you wouldn't think he would be the same price now. I can see St Kilda letting him go to get a draft pick to try pick up someone at the top end but can't see Geelong letting a mid fielder go with Selwood and Ablett at the ends of their careers. To me Geelong could do with a Cutler, they tried Selwood playing that position and it hasn't really worked. what would they likely give for him, a 3rd rounder at best? Taylor could be of interest in a small high pressure forward but I think they fixed their issue last year. Could we package the 2 for something decent in return?

I wouldn't hesitate in offering our first and second for Caldwell. Will be a gun.

Caldwell will take over Coniglio's spot I think. Looked good yesterday, Giants would lock him away quickly.
