Ah Chee is still at that age where he could be anything. I'm not convinced he's going to be better than Cox, but perhaps the best thing for both of them is serious competition, might bring out the best in each of them. One of them will end up replacing Christensen soon. The other might need to wait for Rayner to move to a different position, or absolutely dominate the NEAFL, to get their shot.

Yeah that's fair. I was largely going off the talk of this draft being pretty weak. I also feel like he's the sort of player who could never look good in a struggling team, but might in a good team. Late second rounder/early third probably closer to the mark.

Straight swap for Walker.

You mean the guy that spent chunks of this season in reverses?

I love Bundy's efforts but there's no guarantee an injury or a drop in form doesn't see him back out. He's not one of the first selected.
No wonder he struggled to get going forward.

I love the fact that it looks like we will be getting more indigenous guys on our list this off season eg. Callum Ah Chee and Keidean Coleman at the least. The indigenous guys really do add something intangibly different and positive. Great to see we are building our reputation in this area with leadership from the club, Allen Christensen and our connections with their community through the likes of Deadly Choices.

It would be great if we end up having elite indigenous welfare/support/development programs which are recognized competition wide like the Tigers.

Brilliant post. Love it

Bailey Williams from the Bulldogs, OOC and can't get into their side, good intercept mark in the back half but can also run through the midfield. Only 21, and a big bodied running mid, 187cm and 85kg, could be worth a look and come reasonably cheap.

That is my position. Player swap, and then whatever minor pick compensation deemed value. Keays must know where his best chance of a career at the top level lies after this season.

I agree with this in terms of what might be best for Ben (chances for premierships and all that aside), but I have to weigh that against our academy boys.

Engaging with as many of their predecessors as possible and believing our academy is really a conduit to the seniors is what builds great clubs.

Did Elliot look like a match winner at 21?

Put Ah Chee in our side and he might very well become a match winner.

We could still get Elliot for free, so you never know, we could have both.
That's my point. I'm not saying we should get Ah Chee, just that there are other ready made options who will have a immediate impact like Elliot being 27. It will take Ah Chee at least the age of 23-25 to be consistent AFL ready made player. Our premiership window has just opened and Ah Chee is more of a long term replacement for Christensen in our best 22.

Rayner & McCarthy will be having more midfield minutes next season, hence it would be handy to get another mature goal kicking small forward in his prime, while we in our premiership window. Also the game against Richmond highlighted the fact we are too relent on Cameron to kick a bag in order to have a winning score of around 80-100 points.

Even though I get this logic, mccluggage, berry and co. Have shown age is just a number, so why can’t ah chee make an impression straight away or at least the following year? Only takes a solid preseason to start your career

Ah Chee can't kick 30+ goals in a season. He's not a goal kicking small forward specialist like Elliot. Ah Chee is a half forward/outside type player. We have Taylor, Keays and Cox who can play similar roles, but Ah Chee is more talented then them. Again I'm all for getting him.

Elloit is a match winner and has the ability to kick a bag of goals like Charlie Cameron. A rare trait that our list lacks. That's what separates him from Ah Chee, Taylor, Keays and Cox. I'm talking about bringing in a player to play one specific role, kick 30+ goals a season and ease our reliance on Cameron. In these regards that's why I reckon Elloit should be targeted. Plus if Cameron gets injured, would you rather have Elloit or Ah Chee playing Charlies role. If we offer him a 4 year contract, i reckon we can get him.

No problem with us targeting someone like Elliott, He’d be a great addition to our forward line and would make it easier to move someone like Linc or Rayner into the midfield more often.

However, you seem to be under the illusion that if we’re targeting Ah Chee, then we can’t target Elliott, too? Elliott is far far more likely to stay at Collingwood than go anywhere else.

Had there been any media to suggest we're actually chasing Elliott? I'd love to have him but the only stories I've read are gin wanting to stay with the pies. This thread sounds like supercoach discussions sometimes.

Where would you put these players in our top 40 list, quality wise. I think we should look for trades for players to be in the top 15

Also, Collingwood has always been a bit shrewd offloading players with repeat injuries..(aka top 10 pick Nathan Freeman) ..Buyer beware!! Elliott re-signed with Collingwood last year on a one year deal for a reason - he missed the entire 2018 season with hamstring and ankle injuries...He also missed the entirety of the 2016 season with back complaint attributed to hamstring problems...No doubt, Elliott can be a match-winner when he's fit...He's played 14 games this year missing rounds 8 to 16 with a hamstring injury...The Pies will explore all options to offload and get best $ for their player usually, there will be reports of a contract offer from 2-4 years from rival club Carlton on the table around the $400k-$450k...

Could've easily said the same thing about Addams and McCarthy, but it ended up working out.

Nah, neither of them had the same recurring hamstring injury as what Elliott has... Adams did both his ankles on the SCG 12 months apart..and McCarthy had ankle and groin/hip injuries
