With all due respect to Bundy, I wouldn't call Elliot in and him out, 'status quo'. It would be an upgrade.
Yeah i get what ya mean, i think we are much better off with both than just one. I dont think it needs to be an either or question. If we are looking to strengthen and improve depth having both does that.

Curious to see what players show up to b&f tonight. Not sure I’ve seen Lewy Taylor.

I’d hope that even if players are leaving they could enjoy the night with their teammates. Ignore the coaches/staff but these guys are a tight group.

But we have a hole in our list in that age bracket from players leaving - we have all known there is a gap in that 24-28 year age bracket for some time.

We added 4 in that bracket last season. When youre getting players closer to 28 you're looking short term. Especially injury prone footballers

FINALLY we may get to benefit from this free agency racket that only benefits the top clubs.

I think a fairer system and one that still allows a player the chance to play for the club they supported ect, would be to nominate a free agency destination club before they start their career.

But for now, get in here Elliot!

If Jamie Elliot just listened to Fages’ speech at the B&F, there is no way he is not coming to Brisbane. You couldn’t possibly not love that man and the direction it is heading in. Always have been, but more than ever, I’m a bloody proud Brisbane Lions supporter.

I agree in a sense, we think we are ready now. But honestly...26, 27 is a safe and sensible age to aquire free agents, burning draft picks like Criwd did with Gibbs is different. Player movement is here, we need to stay active in this space.

The more I think about it the more I think it's just the manager trying to up the contract value. The very public walk to the lions headquarters just seems super over the top to me. The manager would have absolutely informed the media so they could be in place to film the walk in.

I remember Murphy doing the tour with Lethal.

With your list you just get hold of as many good players as you can fit in ,do a pre season and select the best team you've got out of whoever's left standing ,and so on it goes every week.

Absolutely. The feed on 7 news said a 'secret ' tour of our facilities. It was on the 7 news for god's sake, you can be as sure as hell we didn't tell them.

Not so secret was it?
When Tom Browne is all over it.

Anyone on here aware of Jamie Elliott's background in Queensland? Some news articles seem to suggest he spent 3-4 years living in Queensland after the age of 10 and that his father was a Queenslander. Apparently his two brothers live in Queensland, too. Probably a stretch to claim him as a local but he does at least have direct family connections in QLD.

Jamie's Manager: Ok, when you're up in Qld & about to fly out on your holiday, why don't you tour the Lions facilities. It'll scare the Pies into upping their offer to you.

Jamie: But, the Pies already know that Melbourne have a three offer on the table on more money per year than the Pies have offered for two.

Jamie's Manager: C'mon mate, the Pies aren't stupid. They know nobody wants to go to Melbourne.

After looking it up Ramanauskas is his manager and I don't think the third person in the footage was him.

I will say people on the Pies board seem decently angry about the prospect of losing Elliott which is always good to see.

I might pop over an politely say...

“Hi guys I come in piece, there’s a bit of talk about Jamie Elliot being linked to our club. I don’t know too much about him. Anything you guys can share?”

Another thing is, you can't really be a FA any younger than this. We add talent and keep our draft hand, huge bonus.

Lol, sorry lionsrules. The manager is playing a long long game if he plans to stay at the pies. I'd love to know how much of the stories are fact based & how much pure speculation. If the reports on Channel 7 are anywhere near the truth, the Pies have a two year deal around 400K on the table, the Lions a three year deal around 600k. If the pies don't offer three years, I can't see him staying, he'd probably take a hit on the amount per year to what he could get from the Lions, but not an extra year.

If the Lions really want him I reckon they'd give him a three year offer with a trigger for a fourth. Personally I think he'd be the biggest signing for us after Neale.
