I’m not overly concerned having a quieter trade period. Understandably this time of the year is about strengthening ones list and do believe that the additions of CEY and Ah Chee will do this maybe just to the extent that we are used to. Then again we’ll have to wait until next year to see.
Yes, it's alot of players imo, just feels weird that we haven't officially delisted anyone yet. Basti Hinge and unfortunately Walker might be gone, and a couple of others traded.Just my opinion.
Not delisting players yet is prudent list management. Kind of having your fingers in both pies. It’s not advantageous for the players and yes must put them in a difficult spot but the club comes first. Next year we don’t have a lot of players coming out of contract so expect a lot of one year deals for those that we resign.
Acres would basically be a direct Cutler replacement. Tall winger who frustrates coaches by not doing what's expected of him, regularly in and out of the side as a result of that and injuries. He's not as quick or as much of a long kick, maybe a bit more physical and better aerially, has played as a 3rd or 4th tall forward a bit. He and Cutler have both had eye-catching runs of form that don't seem to have convinced their coaches, which should tell us something.

We'll need a bit more depth on the outside if Cutler and Taylor leave as expected (and if Bailey continues to frustrate). Acres though- meh. He'd have to come cheap.
I’m not overly impressed with Acres and agree with you in regards to your Cutler comparison. Will have to wait and see.
Weird flex. I wasn’t predicting anything nor do I have any inside information. I was merely saying that there is no way to tell what we have planned until it is all done and dusted. It’s becoming clear our club are pretty quiet about their recruiting and that we are running a pretty tight ship in terms of leaks.

We leaked like a sieve when we were a rabble a few years ago. Noble isn’t the type to give the media an advance heads up for the sake of it.
Have to admit, as much as I liked being in the know it is very reassuring that the ‘adults’ are now in charge and our club is being run professionally for once.

Acres is from WA. More than likely to be part of the Hill trade and head back to Perth to play for Freo you would think, but trade time throws up strange scenarios.

Was just listening to trade radio and a Pies fan rang up and said Collingwood should offer Appleby - Crocker - Broomhead and some other hack for Suns picks 15-20!! And I though the comedy festival finished months ago.

Pretty keen to see what unfolds in the coming days. There is no doubt in my mind our improvement will come from development of our young players but it feels like our depth might take a hit. Interesting to see what we do with picks and player re-signings

Draft for the future and trade for the present. We will be in better shape list wise next year than this, I have no doubt. We need to have faith in our recruiters and list managers who have done a great job so far.

I haven't followed Acres at all - what is it about him SizeMatters that you like about him so much?
Fits into Fagan flexible player thing. Forward, mid or back flanker. Has great agility, size and is fairly powerful. Has some pace don't take in what others have said... not Berry pace but almost.

Has good nous and ability in the contest, unlike Cutler who was pathetic in that regard. He will be Cutler replacement IMO. Doesn't have th or athletic.profile of Cuts but is a much better footballer. ImO

Think he will be perfect with what we have. Berry, CEY and acres in the mid rotations adds some.much needed size and power to help Zorko Cluggs and Neale.

Also look out.for Joyce making.some senior minutes next year. Club rates him extremely highly and having the bigger bodies in would help him immensely

Yep..have a lot of faith in our recruiters..I'm fascinated with players nominating St.Kilda and Carlton, neither clubs have great draft choices. (Sts 6, 59, 76, 82 )..(C 9, 43, 48, 72, 85)...For the players to get to their nominated club, they will need that club to manufacture draft choices...The Essendon denial has been the best...

We seem to have dropped our gaze to B graders
What's wrong with B Graders? We would have had 2 dozen B and C graders in our premiership squads with a few D & E graders thrown in, can't have a team filled with All Australian's.

The old a Team of Champions vs a Champion Team.
Most premiership teams have a lot of B,C and D graders who do there job perfectly as well as A graders having days out.

I hope we are having a look at who we could pry out of the Giants list, they will have salary cap pressure over the next few years with Lachie Whitfield and Jeremy Cameron coming OOC.

Midfielders who are on the fringe and finding it hard to get a foothold in the seniors would be the ideal targets, with Whitfield, Kelly, Coniglio, Hopper, Taranto, Ward and also Williams getting more time as a mid + a very highly rated mid in Tom Green from their academy coming in this draft they may see us as a more realistic opportunity to get into a senior side eg. Jye Caldwell, Aiden Bonar, Jackson Hately.

Joyce was really starting to look good in the NEAFL before getting injured. A bit of Zorko or Shuey about him. Small but strong at the contest with pace.
