Men’s individual time trial tonight.

Will Roahn Dennis take the title? Should be well rested after his TDF walkabout.

It’s being televised on Fox Sports, with the ITT starting at 10 AEST.

What a freak talent Evenepoel is. This is only his 3rd year in cycling after being a promising soccer player, representing Belgium U15s and U16s.
The kid is only 19 years old. Has a massive future ahead of him. They're talking about him as being the next Eddy Merckx, and this time they just might be right.

These blokes are machines, 1hr holding 50kmh. Well done to Dennis but there is still clearly a lot stuff going on with Merida. Their TT bike sales will be shot to pieces.
I assume the reason why he used a blacked out bike was because he used his own parts that he prefers, and not the ones he's been provided with by the team this year?

Yes.

"Dennis controversially opted not to ride his Bahrain-Merida team-issued Merida Time Warp TT bike and instead chose to ride a BMC Timemachine TT for Wednesday's race. He explained that the Australian national team had advised him to defend his TT crown on the BMC Timemachine, which is the same model he rode in his victory in Innsbruck in 2018."

The other thing is he rode with a Kask helmet, which in a TT can improve aerodynamics by a fair bit. Bahrain team helmet sponsor is Rudy Project and BMC used Giro. It's certainly odd for a contracted rider to be doing this, and 9 times out of 10 would see the rider looking for a new job. Aus national team has no affiliation with BMC at any level, so its hard to know where he got the bike from.

National Team trumps Trade Team, so he's well within his rights to use equipment not provided by his Trade Team - at least as far as the UCI is concerned. How well that's going to go down with Merida is another matter.

The reason he pulled out of the TdF was (allegedly) because he was really unhappy with the Merida TT bike, which he regarded as being vastly inferior to the BMC bike he used previously. From that perspective, it's probably not surprising to see him riding a BMC TT bike at the Worlds.

Geez Trentin s**t the bed but conditions like that are not for sprinters. Heavy legs got to a lot, I have no idea why Sagan was waving to the crowd as he crossed the line. Remco stopping to help PhilGil get back, MVDP running out gas in the last lap, peloton riding through ankle deep water, wasn't the race many hoped for. Let's hope they give more thought to location choice in the future.

Anti-climatic race for me. All the big guns there or thereabouts but they just couldn’t get anything going. Thought Trentin had it in the bag but not to be.

Gerry Ryan must have been disappointed - To have the men and women's world Champion would be a red letter day for Mitchelton Scott - Sagan was disappointed because he had the legs to go with MVDP and Trentin but elected to wait - He took thirty seconds off the chase group in the last 30 seconds - He had the legs.

Is anyone else pissing themselves over the fortunes of Shane Perkins?

Perkins spat the dummy after his non-selection for the Rio Olympics. Abandoning Australia, he acquired Russian citizenship, with the aim of representing them at Tokyo.

... and now the Russians have been thrown out of the Tokyo Olympics.

Shane Perkins - it sucks to be you!
