I love watching the VFL at Kardinia Park. Geelong supporters aren't used to any other supporters being there. So if you support loudly you get a lot of quietly offended looks from the crowd. It's a laugh.

I went to the Pies v Cats VFL in Geelong a few years back. Trav Cloke was struggling for form in the twos at the time, and it was a memorable moment when he missed a set shot from 10 metres directly in front. I had my son with me and tried to use Trav's comedy to reinforce a life lesson that we can never take anything for granted, but I think he was too shocked that a professional footballer could miss such an easy goal to absorb the wisdom.

Sier played that day and gave glimpses of being a very smart footballer, and I recall in particular the way he absorbed tackles and used his body as a shield to release teammates into space.

I'll hold onto those memories, but I won't be going back to Kardinia Park this weekend for some more.
