Collingwood suffered another close loss, this time at the hands of Geelong.

The teams were evenly matched for much of the afternoon, but the Cats rode a strong third quarter to win 10.8 (68) to 9.7 (61)

The Magpies were never out of the game and threatened late with a late surge in the fourth quarter, but ultimately had left themselves with too much to do.

Alex Woodward, Ben Crocker, Brayden Sier and Josh Daicos all performed strongly and were the Pies’ leading possession winners on the day.

The result leaves the Pies stuck on one win after six VFL matches.

More to come.

That’s great
Shame of a narrow loss
We certainly miss some of our brigade from last year
I really do feel sorry for the coach. Even though he would have known what he was getting into when he took the job, it would be heart-breaking losing players of the calibre of Aish and Wills from the selected side after De Goey and Moore pulled out of the seniors, and he presumably is just following 'orders from above' in e.g. playing Goldsack up forward, rather than down back where he's much better suited.

I think we need to pick the best performing key defender. If Roughead or Moore went down, we'd be exposed. The midseason draft for us (as contenders) needs to be about insurance for this year, not necessarily building for the future.

Same as Up Forward IF Reid goes down who else except Cox comes is?
