Darlington did something similiar about 15-20 years ago, built a stunning 25,000 seat stadium but got themselves in such a financial state that they were eventually expelled from the football league. The Stadium has been a bit of a white Elephant ever since.
They dont even use it anymore

Not trying to sound harsh here but what’s the issue here? There has to be two clubs each year who lose their league status. They’ve pretty much been a third and fourth tier club most of their history. Would feel as sorry for Walsall and Colchester as well if Southend got above them

They've failed to pay tax bills and their players and faced winding up orders but proceed with paying consultants to scope out the work for the new stadium. Had a transfer embargo placed upon them for failing to pay their players on time and are now stuck playing kids out of their depth

You can go down and still manage to fulfil player contracts and bills though.

It’s unfortunate for those being demoted as it has always been

Not quite sure I get your meaning. These clubs with financial troubles are compounded by the prospect of relegation which is why there's generally a focus around them, as with Macclesfield and Leyton Orient previously.

Fair enough

This is more than going down though. If the they get wound up there'll he no club at all. That's the financial tightrope they are on all because they persist with this stadium. Hiring Sol Campbell was a similar vanity project by their chairmen as well

Some poor sportsmanship overnight it appears. Barnsley manager refuses John O’Shea hand after the match

Oxford claim their go was headbutted at ht of their game against Sunderland

Didn't realise this thread existed - it's good to see a healthy thread about the lower leagues. I follow both Peterborough and Watford due to having lived in both places. Watford looking good for a rebound promotion, while Peterborough are in a real fight. With League 1, one of Hull, Sunderland and Peterborough are going to be unlucky not to secure automatic promotion. Last night, heading into the 80th minute, Hull, Sunderland and Peterborough were all drawing and all found ways to win. Going to be a great end to the season.

Great to see Bolton surge up the League 2 table into the auto promotion spots. After all we’ve been through - winding up orders - unpaid players & staff, numerous points deductions - transfer embargoes, player walk outs, three relegations.
Sure been a rocky road since that 6th place Premier League finish 15 years ago.
From playing in Europe to League Two.
Just keep up the form and get that promotion!

Ismael should have shook his hands, but the reason the footage is of O'Shea is because Paunovic ignored the Barnsley staff and went straight onto the pitch when the whistle blew 🤔 This after moaning and being abusive in Serbian all game.

True and Paunovic was quoted as saying “"It wasn't tight, we were the better team and we absolutely deserved to win.” Yet it was Barnsley with more shots on goal 16-6! Weird

Daryl Dike has been incredible for Barnsley. On loan from Orlando City - got a brace tonight, missed a penalty that he earnt to get his hat-trick. Scored 7 in 13 games, a few of them off the bench. Is 20 and incredibly strong - massive future

Barnsley's 6th consecutive away victory - 1st time ever :) Could be the best story in all of England :)

Well what an absolutely rubbish Easter weekend of sport that was. The Dockers were just so Dockerish in the way they lost to Carlton and I got to watch AFC Wimbledon lose not once but twice 🤦‍♂️.

They conceeded what was just about an own goal in the 87th minute after looking the more likely to score all match and I really think that might have done it, the Dons will be playing in League Two later this year.
