5,159 at the Adelaide/wanderes game yesterday which broke the attendance record for a W-League game; previous high for a standalone regular season game was 3105 back in 2016.

More than the crowd at the gws game yesterday, along with the cornulla game and fremantle aflw game. Of course the first 2 examples were affected by the Sydney rain.

Its a bit of a shame that one of Canberra or Adelaide are going to miss the finals (can't see Melbourne losing to Perth), as both sides have played some really exciting, attacking football, and both have built their teams with a wonderful blend of youth and experience. Canberra have about 7-8 teenagers in their squad and most have been playing every week, I don't think Adelaide would be too different.

Rhali Dobson to retire from the W-League at the end of the season to spend more time with her partner, Mark, who is suffering from brain cancer and needs aggressive radiotherapy and then aggressive chemotherapy.

Dobson has won two championships with Melbourne City during her career and has one Matildas cap (coming on as an 88th minute substitute in a 2-1 victory over Brazil back in 2014).

Canberra/Sydney is hands down the game of the round. Can see both Melbourne teams loosing

City are on a two game winning streak, though, and they'll want to play well to pay tribute to retiring winger, Rhali Dobson. It's also on their home turf. I'd back them to at least draw, if not win.

Canberra drew 0-0 with Sydney to jump ahead of Adelaide on goal difference. The Lady Reds will need the Victory to lose both games, or draw one, against Perth and Sydney if they want to play finals for the first time.

Any reason for Brisbane to be complaining about the referees?

Thought that appalling, he embarrassed his club. He actually complained about the penalty, which was completely legit and Victory had to retake because of his mouthing off. And was then missed! No harm done to Roar.

Their only fair complaint can be the one that appeared to cross the line but wasn't given.

6-2 and he's blaming refs. What an idiot. Grow up.

The refereeing was ridiculously bad, though. I've often said that the standard of refereeing in the W-League is not up to scratch, and the refereeing was abysmal in the semi-final. Phantom fouls were given, yellow cards were issued without cause and the goal to Brisbane not given when the scores were 0-0. But I certainly agree that Goodship was an embarrassment to his club. Two seasons running, he's had a strong squad and they fail to do anything of consequence (though having to replace Polkinghorne and Gielnik at very short notice wouldn't have helped). I think he should be on a very warm seat for next season.

On the bright side, it was brilliant to see De Vanna rip apart an opponent. She's past her best, but she has a fantastic football brain and an eye for goal in big matches. Melbourne Victory have the firepower to challenge Sydney, even though the final is in Sydney and Sydney should go into the game as clear favourites. But I do think Sydney's defence can be shaky if pressure is applied to them. Victory need to control Polias, Simson and Ibini up front, while Sydney will prioritise controlling De Vanna (how she was given so much space by Brisbane is beyond belief, and that's where Goodship should have focused his anger), Cooney-Cross and Ayres. Should be a very good final.
